Elijah suddenly regretted 'escorting' Emily to breakfast. He even regretted waking up and looking for her. Man, she was annoying. Did the girl ever shut up? He had been forced to give her her bag back, even though he was trying his best to at least do something nice for her. It wasn't the best thing he could do but he was trying his hardest. Growing up with violence proved to be a roadblock later in life. But the seven flights of stairs felt like a million with Emily. And the whole time down they had argued, which wasn't what he was planning.
When they got to the Entrance hall he stopped. It was better to argue there than the Great Hall. He was actually just scared to eat with her. What if she argued with him the whole time she was eating. WHat kind of fun would that be? He sighed. "I didn't say you were powerless. I didn't even imply that you were powerless. I was simply, in a failed effort to try to be nice, trying to take a burden off of you..." He had made that arguement before be in all the yelling they both probably forgot that he said that at least three times before.
He then turned to face her. Ok, so she had something about her when she was mad. But who was he to admit his thoughts to anyone but himself. Not even his best friend, Antoning Dolohov. He gave her a seering look, as if telling her that she was wrong no matter what she did. And he thought that was true. She was the one who started yelling at him because he tried to be chivalrous. She was such a freaking pain the ass.

Emily had argued with Elijah the entire way down. How could one boy be so irritating? He had taken her bag back at the common room. It had taken her four flights to get it back. When he finally gave it back, he kept arguing with her about whether or not he deserved to be yelled at. Did he think she was powerless? Did he think she needed to have her bag carried for her. They were still arguing when they reached the entrance hall. She was getting tired of arguing with him. So when he tried to reason with her again, saying the exact same thing he had said multiple times, she found it much more reasonable. "Oh," she said obviously calming down. "Well I guess that makes sense." She looked up at him and there was a moment between the two.
She broke the eye contact and flipped her hair behind her shoulders again. "Maybe there's some hope for you yet on learning manners." She paused and there was an awkward silence. "Why the hell are you so confusing?" she asked him breaking the silence, and continuing without really meaning to say what she said. "I mean first you're really rude to me. Then you show up at my common room and almost k- I mean, first you tell me you're dreaming about me. Then you steal my bag and tell me you're trying to be nice?" Damn. Why did she tell him that? She hadn't meant to say any of that out loud.
"Well, I'm going to go eat breakfast. See you later," she said starting to walk towards the door to the Great Hall.

Elijah made a face as she finally agreed with him. After saying that particular arguement about ten times she now finally agreed with him? He wanted to hit something. He stole a glance at the wall but didn't do anything. He gave a frustrated sigh and stepped back from her. He looked at her and was about to say some sort of jerk comment but the way she was looking at him made him freeze. Why was she giving him that look, and why did he feel that he had to give her that same intense look right back?
Emily finally broke the eye contact and he felt himself soften from his previous anger as she flipped her hair. He looked at her wierdly at her question. "I'm confusing?" He didn't know why he always had to argue, but it was like he needed something to let his anger out on. And as long as he wasn't hitting her or really seriously hurting her in any form or fashion that he was ok. Well, she didn actually have a point but he felt the need to be the right one. "You touch my arm and then..." he broke off, now just realizing that she had almost said kissed. "Well, I just assumed that you would want me to show you something like that." He said going back a step into jackass mode.
As she started to walk away from him he grabbed her arm "Oh, no you don't." he whispered, pulling her back "No yet..." He got in her face and he tried to think of something to say. "You actually thought I was going to kiss you?" Ok, so he had debated on actually doing it but she didn't need to know that.

Was he implying that she was the confusing one? He was! The arm incident as she called it in her head... well that was a little strange. She could understand that. He looked irritated, and he seemed like violence wasn't out of the question. However, she honestly wasn't worried about him hitting her. She probably should have been, but she was more interested in their argument. She snorted when he continued. "Really? You assumed that? How arrogant of you," she said glaring at him. "I suppose it's a good thing you didn't jump me and start snogging me then ripping off my school uniform."
She then proceeded to start her walk towards the door when he grabbed her arm pulling her back around. She sighed and looked up at him for his next witty remark. He paused and seemed to be thinking of what to say next. So why couldn't he have just let her go? Jerk. She looked at him as if he were completely crazy. "Of course I did! How the hell was I supposed to know you were just showing me part of your dream? People don't go around dreaming about people and then showing them what happened in said dream when it was something like that very often."
She tugged her arm away from him, but he held on to it. "Can I please go eat breakfast now Elijah? I'm hungry, and I'd hate to go to class hungry and irritated. I might be unpleasant then," she said her tone lightening up into joking at the end.

Kaoru made his way down to the Great Hall for breakfast. It had been a few days since Kaoru had seen Luc- no, Emily in the hallway. He'd gotten in trouble for that, not being able to tell his ex from her twin sister, and he was determined to be able to tell them apart, now. He figured that maybe he should've worked on that before Lucy broke up with him, but still couldn't quite bring himself to care about it all that much. What was in a name, anyways? Never mind that his and his siblings' names all held particular meaning for them... they were Japanese names. They didn't count.
This morning was one of the mornings where Kaoru was glad he'd learned how to separate his mind from his body. All the while his mind was running around thinking about everything, nothing, and Emily and Lucy, his feet continued to carry him down the seven flights of stairs. He loved being a Gryffindor, great people, great times, but he could definitely do without the trek to and from the common room. But then again, Hogwarts was a castle. Everywhere had a trek to get to it from anywhere besides the next room over.
As Kaoru's thoughts wandered, he thought he heard something like an argument rising up from a few flights below him. Who could possibly be arguing this early in the morning?! He was not paying enough attention to comprehend what the two voices were arguing about, but there was definitely only two voices, and definitely one male and one female. Probably some lovers' spat or something...
Finally making it to the Great Hall, the doors in sight, Kaoru's feet stopped moving. Soon after, his eyes saw the reason his feet stopped, and eventually decided to tell his brain - there was a very familiar head of hair standing by the doors to the Great Hall, and the girl the hair belonged to was standing very close to someone. A boy. Deciding that his brain not had enough information, Kaoru's body took over once again and before he knew what he was doing, Kaoru found himself moving towards the two by the door.
As he got closer, Kauro started picking up on some details of this exchange. For one, he saw that it was Emily this time before he opened his mouth. For one, the Ravenclaw tie was a tip-off (Lucy would be wearing her Gryffindor tie), but besides that, Emily jsut carried herself different. Angrier, more defiant, proud. Lucy could hold her own, Kaoru knew that well, but Emily radiated a kind of fierceness that could only have been bred from years of being in her sister's shadow. Lucy was by far the more outgoing twin. Kaoru saw her stance change, from irritated to almost pleasant, maybe even making a joke at the end of her statement. Something within Kaoru didn't like that she'd changed so much so quickly.
Kaoru saw that the boy had a grip on Emily's arm, and while he didn't seem to be hurting her, the fact that she tugged her arm away and he didn't let go made Kaoru angry. No one should ever be held against their will, and if they were trying to get away, it was against their will. Even though he knew Emily wasn't fond of him in the slightest, and truth be told he was only mildly interested in Emily, he didn't like this boy that was holding her arm. There was no way he would be able to pry the boy's hand off, especially without hurting Emily, so that option was out. Almost immediately switching from being aggrivated at his smaller, weaker form, Kaoru thanked Merlin for his small stature and slipped underneath the boy's arm, managing to fit himself (though it was a tight squeeze, he'd admit) between the boy and Emily.
"Hey, EmiLu. Up for some breakfast?" Offering Emily a bright smile, Kaoru decided quickly that regardless that she'd probably only be madder at him, at least he'd gave an attempt to stop the boy. Her arm was still being held captive, but at least he wasn't looming directly over her, close together, anymore.

Elijah snorted at what she sort of accused him of being able to do. Did she really mean it? “No matter how pretty I think a girl is I would never 'jump' her...without her permission.” Did she really think he was that low. Well, that was a huge hit to his already huge pride. He shook his head, trying to shake off how much her comment actually effected him. “You really think I'm low enough to rip off a girl's school uniform. Well, that's a great thing to know. I'm sure glad you think I'm that much of a jackass.” Although she was just probably letting out all of her anger towards this other guy who had been bothering her.
As Emily waited for his next comment he couldn't help but wonder if he was just trying to argue with her or if he just wanted to spend time with her before she got completely fed up with him and just told him off. He didn't know why she hadn't already told him off. She had a point though. Ugh, he hated when he had nothing to say. He usually always had something to say and never went brain dead. “Alright, your right...” He couldn't really say anything that was within his comfort zone. Once she said that she was hungry he almost let her go. But instead he just opened his mouth “Wait...”
Elijah didn't get to say what he had wanted to because a someone came between him and Emily, forcing him to take a step away from her. He looked over the Gryffindor who had just interrupted what he was going to say. Elijah was a bit taller than the guy who had come between them. At first he was confused. Who the hell did this guy think he was just coming up to them like that. He started to think back, though to the day that he and Emily had first met. She talked about some guy who went out with her sister and started hitting on her. He had offered to beat this guy up but she refused. Was she worried because Elijah was bigger than this guy. So..that meant...
Elijah started laughing. “This is him? Really?” He let her arm go and doubled over laughing. But once this guy asked Emily to breakfast his laughing stopped abruptly. He almost did a double tak. What? This guy asked her to breakfast? Well, this wasn't going to work for Elijah. He glared at this guy “Sorry, she's already taken for breakfast...” He said menacingly.

She was startled by his reaction to her comment. She hadn't realized how much it would affect him. She hadn't really meant it like that. "No," that's not what I meant," she told him the surprise showing in her tone. "I wasn't saying you'd do something like that. I was just irritated." All signs of irritation was gone from her tone and it was much more gentle then usual.
As strange as it may sound, the brunette was actually enjoying their argument. Way deep down under all the irritation anyways. "Did you just admit I'm right?" she asked surprised for the second time. Those were words she never expected to hear from him. He was about to say something else when suddenly someone slipped into the small space between them. He was standing way too close to her. That was the first thing she noticed. That would have made her angry no matter who the person was. When she realized it was Kaoru her eyes narrowed in anger. What the hell did he think he was doing? Was he trying to protect her from Elijah? What was it with guys and thinking she was helpless that morning? They were in plain sight to anyone going to eat breakfast, it's not like he could have done anything more then grab her arm. When she realized what he had called her though... well that just made her somehow even more angry. "What the hell did you just call me?" she snapped. The nerve of this boy. Did he think it was cute? Did he think it was funny? Well if he thought it was funny for her to wrap her fingers around his neck and st- bad Emily. Don't think such things, or you might not be able to avoid doing it.
She heard Elijah start laughing and she rolled her eyes. Well at least someone was getting some sort of pleasure out of this. When he realized Kaoru had asked her to breakfast he sobered up and seemed to be angry at the Gryffindor. Almost as if he were... jealous. When she realized his response, saying she was going to eat with him, that irritated her as well. Who was he to assume she would eat with him? Maybe she wanted to eat with this loser instead? Well that was ridiculous since he had heard her say how she thought Kaoru was more irritating then him. Elijah stood behind Kaoru and he looked so much bigger then the Asian. "I'd step back if I were you Kaoru," she said almost smirking as she motioned her head in the direction of Elijah.
Now that her arm was free she stepped off to the side so that the three were in a sort of triangle... ironically. She glanced back and forth between the two. The lesser of two evils. It wasn't that hard of a choice. As much as she wanted to irritate Elijah, she wanted Kaoru to leave her alone even more. An idea occurred to her as well. She could get her revenge for this morning too. She took a step towards Elijah standing at his side and laid a hand on his arm standing very close to him. "Yep," said confirming his story. "I already promised 'lijah I'd eat with him," she said smiling brightly at the Gryffindor.

Sandwiched as he was between Emily and the other boy, Kaoru really couldn't see much. He could, however, clearly see Emily's face, and nothing was stopping his hearing. The anger in her voice confused him. Didn't she see that he was just trying to help her? "I didn't call you anything in particular. Just asked you to breakfast. Food always tastes better with company."
The sudden laughter from him caused Kaoru to turn in surprise. Asking someone to breakfast wasn't usually a laughing matter - food was important! But regardless of the laughing the taller boy was doing, Kaoru was satisfied when he saw the other boy's hand release Emily's arm. Emily's words, however, caused Kaoru to turn again and once more face Emily. He was doing a lot of turning this morning. Through exposure via Lucy, Kaoru knew Emily to be the more sarcastic, devious of the two. But even with that knowledge, he still didn't know what to make of Emily's smirk and warning. However, since the only reason he'd been standing so close to her to begin with was to create distance between her and the boy, Kaoru obediently took a step away from Emily unknowingly placing himself closer to the laughing boy. Kaoru saw Emily's nod towards the other boy, but Kaoru couldn't think how the warning could be applied to him. What was the guy going to do, Laugh on him?
Kaoru watched as Emily stepped away from the wall she'd been pinned to and moved closer to the boy, too close, if Kaoru had a say in it. There was no reason for anyone to stand that close together except with a specific purpose in mind, or unless they were dating. According to Lucy, Emily wasn't dating anyone, and if he remembered right never had, so this guy was not her boyfriend and they had no reason to be standing so close.
"Already promised? Too bad, I was looking foreword to some more verbal abuse." Kaoru wasn't quite sure what made him say that, but he never really thought about what he said all that much, so why start now? "I have half a notion to join you - after all, the more, the merrier, right? Isn't that how that saying goes?" Kaoru's English was quite good, if he did say so himself, but at the end of the day Japanese was his first language. Sometimes he gets things mixed up. "Anyways, I'm about to die of hunger, so let's get going, shall we?"

Elijah smiled a real smile, not a smirk. She was apologizing. Of course she would, she was a caring person. But it made him wonder why things she said actually affected him. Anyone else could have said that to him and he would have called them some name and walked away laughing. “It’s alright,” He said “I know I can be a bit of a prick sometimes. It’s in my genes…” At ‘sometimes’ he smirked again, changing back into jerk mode. “Nope,” He said, addressing how he said she was right. He felt the urge to take back his words. Now she would get all high and mighty. Well, probably not, but he liked to think the worst in people. “You didn’t hear that out of me. I don’t think you’re ever right.”
Elijah felt a sense of joy came over him and his smirk widened to the point of him looking smug as hell. It was a nice change to see Emily being mad at someone else besides him. Although it was stupid of the guy to call Emily her ‘EmiLu’. It was even more ridiculous that he had gotten the sisters mixed up. Was it really that hard to see at least a difference in twins? Usually one had more freckles, or they had a completely different attitude about them. Anyone could see that Emily was caring, smart, and annoying (although you could also use the word sarcastic). She had a certain thing about her. No matter what she did she had a presence. He didn’t even know Lucy, but he was sure that Emily was probably the more lively and smarter one. She was in Ravenclaw after all. He wanted to fuel the fight on so he acted like a jerk “I think he called you EmiLu,” He said to Emily, and then to the guy “That was a dumbass move. It was nice to meet you, enjoy your immanent death.” SO he would probably get yelled at for poking at the fight, but he couldn’t help it. If Emily killed this guy he would have been perfectly happy.
As Emily thought Elijah started to feel panicked. She wasn’t actually going to eat with this other guy, was she? Kaoru was his name, right? He didn’t look all like he would be interested in Emily. But that could have been some form of jealousy talking. But as she stepped towards him his smirk turned into a triumphant smile. She had said that Kaoru was annoying her. As her hand was lain on his arm he felt a warm, rushing feeling sweep through him. Why did she do this to him? He didn’t even know why he was worried about her rejecting him. But it wasn’t like this was a date with her; it still felt like it to him though. But he had never been on a date so he didn’t really know all that much how dates were supposed to go. Eating with Emily…Ha, it had a nice ring to it. Soon the thought was eating at him. Did she like him? Did she want to eat with him just to annoy Kaoru or would she have eaten with him anyway. Still, even though this was troubling him, he felt like he had won a million galleons.
Elijah wanted to say ‘You can get verbal abuse anywhere else in this castle’. Seeing as his smugness couldn’t possibly go away. Emily was eating with him and that wasn’t going to ch-. His thought can to a stop and his winning mood came to a halt as Kaoru invited himself to eat with them. Was he serious? Elijah wanted to shake his head but he couldn’t. What did this guy think he was doing? He then stepped back from Emily so he could look at her properly. “It this guy serious?” He asked as if Kaoru wasn’t there. “If he eats with us I’m going to lose it and kick his ass.” He knew Kaoru was listening but he just wanted to pretend he wasn’t there. This was getting on his nerves. “I will pummel his tiny little body into the ground…” So this might be an overreaction but he didn’t care. This little jackass wouldn’t ruin his breakfast, he was bound to ruin it himself.

“Yes you can,” she agreed grinning at him. “Never right, hmm? Well that is what they say about Ravenclaws. We’re never right. Just a bunch of blundering idiots,” she said nodding very seriously. “We also are quite delusional. Imagine things all the time.” Which was actually true about some of them, but not her. She didn’t have an active imagination in the slightest. Food always tastes better with company? She really hated that saying. The whole concept was you would be enjoying yourself more and therefore the food would seem to be better. However, Emily did not mind eating alone. In fact she rather enjoyed it, and preferred it to the company of most, and Kaoru Sasaki was definitely on that list. So really, by that theory, it would taste worse. She ignored what Elijah said when he confirmed what she had heard. It really irritated her, but she didn’t want to start some sort of fight. Besides, she’d just tell Lucy, and she’d be nearly as upset as Emily. Only she’d do something about it. If the jerk really wanted her back then he’d be sorry. She’d yell at Elijah later about being a jerk. She didn’t want Kaoru to think she was sticking up for him, but she wouldn’t let Elijah get away with acting like such an ass. It was not acceptable. Looking forward to more verbal abuse? That brought a small grin to the corner of her lips. That was perhaps a bit funny. She thought he was kidding, or else she might have been a bit worried she had been too mean. No matter how much he deserved it. When he invited himself to join them her slowly forming smile dropped. Oh no. They could not do this to her. Then Elijah got extremely defensive and started to act like even more of a jerk. She was NOT getting between them. They could NOT make her decide. She removed her hand from Elijah’s arm and set it down after hitting his arm (surprisingly had for a girl of her size and athletic ability, or lack there of) let it swing back to her side. “Don’t be such a jerk Elijah,” she said narrowing her eyes. “You are not going to hit him for something so stupid,” she said fiercely, as if she could actually do something to stop him. She looked back and forth between the two once. She wasn’t going to do this. She wasn’t the nicest person in the world all the time, but she was mostly talk. It was more like she enjoyed pretending she was mean, but she was actually a fairly nice person. A bit of verbal abuse, sure, but that was about as far as she could go unless it was in defense, and she wasn’t about to send either away. So she swung her bag over her shoulder and started walking into the great hall giving neither a sign of what she wanted or if she should be followed or not followed. She walked without turning back until she sat down in an open piece at the Ravenclaw table and started putting food on her plate, not quite sure of who was going to join her. [[YAY FOR EXISTING!!
