Emily Watkins was walking through the moderately crowded halls of Hogwarts nearly oblivious to the hustle and bustle of people walking to class, outdoors, library, or back to their common room since both the sixth and seventh years had this hour off. Em was headed towards the library, and she was running over her to-do list in her head rather then paying attention to what was around her. She had to do her Arithmancy homework first. Then she needed to revise her Transfiguration notes again. After that she should re-read Chapter 19 in the Charms book. Then, if she still had time, she’d get a head-start on that DADA essay they had been assigned that day. She was glad the rest of her afternoon was off, that would give her plenty of time to do what needed to be done. Maybe she could even convince Ang to put down her book for long enough to play her in Wizards’ Chess. (Ah, the sexism in the name. Well there was really nothing to be done about it now.)
Suddenly someone (rather rudely she might add) bumped into her pulling her out of her internal monologue, and Emily glanced at the people around her unsure who the one responsible was, but not too worried about it. She pulled on her blue and black plaid skirt self-consciously. Oh how she hated these skirts. They seemed to be getting shorter every year, hell, every semester. She had gotten new ones over the holidays, and she wasn’t too fond of them. She sighed. She went off on rants about the school uniforms far too often.
Suddenly over the hustle and bustle she heard a very clear “Watkins!” over the crowd and turned to see who on earth was calling her. She rolled her eyes when she saw the person approaching her and attempted to turn back around and hurry off, but the person was too fast and caught up to her before she had the chance. “What do you want?” she said glaring at the boy in front of her.

Kaoru was making his way through the corridors, idly retreating to the Gryffindor common room... eventually. He didn't see much point is going all the way back up to the seventh floor for just one class period. So, instead, he chose to wander the castle. Right now, though, it was relatively soon after class had let out, so the halls were still filled with younger students hurrying to their next class, moving at nearly three times the speed Kaoru was.
Kaoru spent his time glancing over the other students - though he had a bit of difficulty seeing as half of them were taller than he was - and eventually his eyes fell upon very familiar hair. It looked different than he remembered, but then again, styles were easy to change. The hair itself, though, the color, texture, were harder, especially during school.
"Watkins!" he called out, figuring that first names were easy to repeat, but that surnames were more individualized. The girl turned and looked at him, then hurriedly turned away again. Well, that won't do. Not at all. Using a rare show of exertion, Kaoru increased his speed and caught up to her in a few seconds. By the time he'd been able to see her, she really hadn't been that far from him. Catching her shoulder, Kaoru asked "Hey, you kind of disappeared after the other night. How've you been, Lu?"
Her angered reaction caught Kaoru off-guard. He was not used to any form of heightened emotion except for excitement over the next get-together. The glare she was giving him didn't help.
"I just want to talk to you, Lucy. There's no need to be so angry at me. I'm just looking to talk." In most cases, this would be a line fed to the girl in order to achieve his own priorities, but not this time. Lucy had broken up with him - the only girl he'd ever managed to be serious about in his entire life - and then she'd just disappeared without a trace. Sometimes he'd see glimpses of her around corners, but for the most part he had not seen her at all ever since that night.

She continued to glare up at him. She had disappeared? What in Merlin's name was he talking about? Oh. He thought she was Lucy. Of course. Kaoru Sasaki was her sister's latest ex. He was on her list of least favorite ex boyfriends of her sisters. (Which was a rather long list.) Her sister was the queen of running out on relationships the minute they weren't perfect anymore. Her sister was looking for some sort of fairytale. Of course usually her sister chose awful guys. They were usually full of themselves and obnoxious. Kaoru Sasaki here could be exhibit A. The moron couldn't even tell the difference between the two despite the fact they'd been introduced multiple times. Sure, her sister might change her own hair every couple of months, but her hair had been the same for years. Sometimes though her sister did choose decent guys, and always ditched them as soon as things weren't a happy fairytale. Then she avoided said guy for a long time. Which, obviously is what was happening here.
He seemed surprised by her anger. Well at least he recognized that Lu wasn't usually angry. No, she usually appeared happy. Sometimes sad. Very rarely angry though. Emily however, often looked angry when she was around guys like him. She snorted. "Yeah, I'm sure you just want to talk," she said her voice dripping with sarcasm. Something her sister also didn't do. "Well Kaoru is it?" she asked even though she knew his name. She was Ravenclaw, they remembered things like that. "First of all, if I were Lucy and I knew that you couldn't tell the difference between the two of us I would be even more angry towards you then I was before. Second of all, my sister does have reason to be angry with you. Weren't you oggling that Hufflepuff girl or something? Third of all, does my sister really fall for lines like that?" She continued glaring up at the Gryffindor waiting for a response. Why couldn't her sister have stayed with the last guy. The nice Hufflepuff boy. He could always tell the two apart, and he could hold an intelligent conversation which is more then she'd expect for this boy.
