Jenny Britton stared at the open Muggle Studies book in front of her. She had her feet propped on the chair across from her, and she was twirling a red curl around her fingers absent mindedly. She looked around the room at all the people studying. This was boring. They either looked bored or like they needed to get a life. This was the library though, so she supposed it made sense. Jenny Britton in the library. It really was an odd combination. She could count the times she had been in the library in the past five and half years on one hand. Twice because she had to have a book for a class. Once because of a class project. (THAT had been a disaster- but it was fun.) Once because she was looking for someone, and then the other time was because Hannah had decided it would be a good idea to drag Jenny to the library. It had been a disaster, and it wasn't tried again.
So why was Jenny studying Muggle Studies (early it might be added, it was Sunday and her exam wasn't until Friday) in the library of her own free will? Jenny looked over at the person next to her and smiled. That was the reason. Because her boyfriend was. Boyfriend! She loved saying that... thinking that. She wasn't the type of girl who needed a boyfriend to be happy, but having this boyfriend made her even more happy then she had been before. Enny was different from the other sort-of boyfriends she had before him. Different in a good way though. One difference was he was a Ravenclaw, and he actually cared about his classes. In fact, it was only due to Jenny he did anything other then read and study. (Which was only kind of an over exageration.) He had said he had been falling behind on his studies (which meant he wasn't ridiculously ahead) and he had to study that night. She was welcome to join him, or she could go do something else. It was up to her. Jenny- much to both their surprises, had decided to join him in the library. After all, time with him while he studied was better then no time at all. She had brought Muggle Studies, because usually it interested her, but they were at a particularily boring chapter right now.
So she was occupying a few minutes by staring at her boyfriend. He looks so calm and peaceful while he studies. Completely adorable, and rather attractive. At this point Jenny had to tear her eyes away from him to look back at her book. She was doing her best not to be a distraction. She went back to reading, but she kept staring at the same sentence reading it over and over again. She hadn't turned the page in more then twenty minutes. She sighed and glanced back over at him. She could be a distraction for just a second right? Long enough to ask him how much longer. She didn't mind being here, being here really was better then being without him, but that didn't mean she wasn't ready to go. She waited for him to turn his page and spoke suddenly in a tone that was quiet for her, but a bit loud for the library. "Hey En, how much longer do you think?" she asked him still twirling the curl around her finger.

Enny was in the library. That in itself was nothing out of the usual. He was a Ravenclaw preparing for his NEWTS in the spring - he was in the library more often than he was in his dorm. The difference was in his company. Occasionally he would study with another Ravenclaw, most keeping to himself unless he had a pressing question he couldn't figure out (which wasn't often). But this time he was sitting next to a hyperactive 6th year Gryffindor. A Gryffindor 6th year who was his girlfriend. Enny was still wrapping his head around that one.
In the time before he'd worked up the courage to ask Jenny to be his girlfriend (which hadn't even happened - he hadn't been able to ask her with words, so he just kissed her instead), Enny hadn't been able to focus on anything for more than ten seconds, let alone study. He'd started to fall behind in his classes (he'd only revised his notes once before a quiz. Appalling.), and decided that now that he could focus again he had to catch back up. He'd told Jenny as much. He really wanted to be spending time with Jenny, but with her aversion to the library he told her that she could join him if she wanted, but that he wouldn't be offended in the slightest if she chose to do something else. He was more than surprised when she chose to accompany him.
So, here Enny was in the library with his hyperactive girlfriend. He'd gotten through his Charms, Potions and History of Magic work, but still his Potions, Arithmancy, and Transfiguration left to do. Nothing too terrible. As Enny worked, though, he couldn't help but notice Jenny fidgeting. He also noticed that she kept looking up at him. Peripheral vision was a wonderful thing. He decided to not point it out, though. He's always been able to focus easily despite distractions, and he was curious to see how long Jenny could last in the quiet, still Library. She'd lasted about an hour so far, he was proud of her.
Enny knew her patience was fated to end, though, and as he reached the bottom of the page in his Potions text that he'd been taking notes on and reached to turn it, Jenny spoke up. It was sudden, and louder than she should have been, but she wasn't used to being quiet. Looking at her, Enny saw her playing with her hair and was distracted for a moment from answering her. When he did, it was in the carefully controlled volume suitable for the library. "I'm not entirely sure, Jenny. I'm about half done, maybe another hour?" Enny knew that another hour would be pushing her limits. "You don't have to stay, if you're bored. I can meet you for dinner. Or you could take a break and run down to the kitchens for a snack." Checking the madam Pince wasn't looking (he was on very good terms with the Librarian, but he didn't know how she'd react to couples) Enny kissed Jenny softly. "I know studying isn't your absolute favorite thing to do. You've lasted a whole hour, that's really good."

He seemed distracted for a moment before answering her question. Just long enough for Jenny to wonder why, but not long enough for her to forget all about it when he started talking. An hour? How was she going to wait another hour. She looked up at him and feeling her heart flutter for a moment she decided she could wait. It wouldn't be that bad as long as she got to stay here with him. His volume was much softer then hers. Something she hardly noticed, but subconciously it did get her to lower her voice... a tad when she did speak. To an acceptable volume even if it did irritate a few people. (They were irritable anyways- they really needed to take a study break. Go do something fun. They'd been in all day.) She shook her head when he said she could leave. "No, I want to stay with you," she told him. She didn't particularly want to stay in the library, but her tone wasn't filled with annoyance or impatience. It was very sincere. She noticed him look around and then he kissed her softly. She smiled. Good, she wasn't bothering him.
She grinned when he told her she was doing good. She was glad she hadn't been irritating him while he studied with her fidgeting and what not. She really had tried to sit still. She just didn't do that so well. "I'd be better off if this chapter wasn't so boring and pointless," she said jokingly (sort of) and pointing to the open pages of her Muggle Studies book. "Maybe I should just pull out that Transfiguration Essay that's due Friday." That I haven't started on, she added in her head.

Enny smiled. It made him really happy that Jenny wanted to stay with him, especially since staying with him meant staying in the library. Her voice also got a little bit quieter, and was almost to the point of blending in with the atmosphere. It was progress. When she complained about the content of her textbook, though, the small smile he'd been sporting shifted into his analytic face. "I'll give you boring, sometimes textbooks can be quite dull, but I disagree that whatever you've been assigned would be pointless. What're you reading about?" Enny remembered her mentioning that she would be reading for Muggle Studies, but he couldn't remember her mentioning a topic.
"You could do your Transfiguration, too. Sometimes it helps to switch topics when you're tired of one. And at least you've started this assignment - I'm willing to bet that you haven't even touched your essay yet." It was a big task, but Enny was determined to improve Jenny's study habits at least some. He would do that to anyone he regularly spoke to (if he had anyone he regularly talked to besides study partners, so didn't need prompting), but he was especially determined to help Jenny. He would feel horrible if he knew that she was ignoring her studies to spend time with him. "If you get it done, or at least started, I can look over it for you, edit it. Or help plan out what to write."

She was surprised to hear him say he'd give her boring. She hadn't been expecting that much. Never pointless though? Nothing they ever did was pointless? Unless you'll be put in really obscure situations they were often. Example: changing a mouse into a pin cushion. When were you ever going to use that? What? 'Here I am, sitting around sewing (ha!) but I have no pin cushion. I couldn't just use a pillow or stick them on my shirt or something. Oh look! A mouse just ran across the floor! Maybe I'll just transfigure that into a pin cushion.' Yeah, right. That didn't happen. (Very often.) Obviously, Jenny had put a lot of thought into this. She didn't say anything about that though right now. "We're studying Muggle morning routines," she said wrinkling her nose. "They spend a lot of time doing things in the morning. I can't imagine spending that much time getting ready. I'd have to get up more then 15 minutes before class. Thank Merlin for magic." She paused before continuing. "I just don't understand how this will help me though. They spend five minutes brushing their teeth versus five seconds. Okay, but why do I have to hear how they do it?"
She nodded. "That makes sense. I usually do it all at once." Because I do it the night before, but that's besides the point. Her study habits really were atrocious. Hannah had been determined to fix them, and failed miserably. Hannah would think he was some kind of miracle worker when she heard about this. "I usually just write it. I don't really plan it out ahead," she confessed. "It would probably go a lot more smoothly if I planned it though. Especially if you helped me." McGonagol would probably die from shock too.

Enny saw the surprise on Jenny's face when he agreed reading textbooks could be boring. "What? The only difference between us is that I plow through the book anyway, and you find something mroe interesting. Doesn't stop it being dull..." Her face cleared just a little bit and Enny guessed that she was going off on an internal monologue about some practical lesson she'd deemed useless.
"You have to keep in mind that you're taking Muggle Studies. It's a class to study muggles in. You also have to mind that you lot are the most likely of the students, except the muggleborns, to be in a situation where you're residing with muggles. Maybe you take a trip to another country and have to stay somewhere where you're in close with muggles. They'd question if they never saw you with a toothbrush or things." Enny was in explanation mode. It tended to happen, especially if he was in the middle of studying. "You're exaggerating with the five minutes - it only takes me two. You forget that you're dating a muggleborn. I don't use any spells in the morning, it's not what I'm used to. It's faster, for me, to walk to my closet and pick out my clothes than it is to think of what I want and accio them. And you wouldn't have to wake up any earlier than you do now. Take a shower and pick out your cothes the night before. Then once you get out of bed it'll take you two or three munites for your teeth, another two or three to put your clothes on - which I know magic doesn't do for you - and that still leaves about ten minutes to get to your class, which I'm learning is your habit, breakfast be damned." Grinning, Enny leaned in and kissed Jenny again. "It's all about what you're used to. You learn it so that if you ever have to, you can do it yourself. Maybe an Auror, undercover, has to live closely with muggles. He can't do anything magically, because they would know. He'd have to know how to brush his teeth. Or just go around with nasty teeth, but that's unpleasant."
He considered Jenny's nod at his essay suggestions a mark on his side for his "get Jenny to actually do her work on time" quest. "You probably do it all at once because you wait until the absolute last minute and have no choice but to do it all at once, right? If you plan it out before you start writing it, then you'll know exactly what you need to be focusing on for that part. You won't have the frantic onslaught of ideas flying at you because you can just ignore the others and focus on one. Write down the main point, and then underneath it a few details that you want to mention. You hop from one to the next a lot faster than if you try and think as you write. I'll be glad to help you." Here, Enny smirked. Not a grin, or a smile, but a full smirk. "I might even be convinced to reward you along the way with a few study breaks, if you're a good girl and do your work." Leaning in again Enny pressed a lingering kiss to Jenny's lips. Once he had actually found the courage to kiss her the first time, he couldn't seem to stop.

She grinned. "That's not the only difference between us. But yes, I suppose that's true." She said kissing him. She listened as he explained that she could be stuck in a situation where it would seem odd to the muggles if they didn't see her brush her teeth and what not. It made sense. When was she ever going to be stuck in a situation like that. She looked at Enny and felt silly. She was dating a muggleborn. She might very well be put in a scenario like that. The thought only made her grin though... that she might be out with him traveling...
She (by some miracle) managed to keep paying attention rather then going off in a daydream. "That makes sense I suppose," she said nodding before he continued his very teacher-like explanation. "You never use magic in the morning?" she asked surprised. Even before she learned magic a lot of her getting ready included magic curtesy of her mother or the house elf. She wrinkled her nose. "I suppose I could do it all without magic. It would be different though." It would help you on your test though. Shut up Hannah. "And yes that is exactly my style," she said with a grin. "I don't want to be their too early. I do eat breakfast occaisonally though."
She wrinkled her nose and nodded when he asked if it was because she waited until the last second. Then he described her essays perfectly... jumping from one point to the next. McGonnagol always commented on that when she marked her essays. The teacher had told her the jumpy essays 'give her a headache they switch topics so much.' "McGonnagol would certainly appreciate it I'm sure."
Enny. Smirking. Flirting too. He was learning fast it seemed. She kissed him back. They really did kiss a lot now. (Which was definitely a good thing.) She pulled away after a few seconds, but didn't pull back."That, Mr. Jones, is the most convincing thing you've said in this entire conversation," she whispered her eyes twinkling. "And exactly how good should I be?" she asked him.

Enny had always had a habit of being able to guess usually close to what people were thinking. He was, and still is, very intuitive. Right now he could see Jenny doubting whether she'd be one of the ones who would need it. "Think about it. What if you came to visit over the summer, or Easter or next Christmas or something, and stayed at my house. My parents know about magic, obviously, and they would be fine, but we have relatives stay over a lot of the time. They don't know anything about magic, and if they don't see you doing the same things they do, they wouldn't understand."
He heard the surprise in Jenny's voice as she questioned his not using magic. "Nope, no magic at all. When I was little and my mam and tad were teaching me everything so I could do it on my own, there was no magic. No spells, no house elves, no anything, so we had to do it all on our own. So now, when I do have the ability to, I don't see a need to. The muggle way works just fine. There's a shaving charm that looks like it would be a lot simpler, but I don't need to shave, so I don't use it." He shrugged "Yeah, it would be different, I suppose, but at the same time I don't think it would be all that much different. You still do all the same things, still pick your clothes, get dressed, do your hair, brush your teeth, it's just that instead of reaching for a long wooden stick, you'd reach for a short plastic one. You might try it someday. Or maybe for a whole week, see the difference. It would probably help you on your test. There's no better way to learn things like languages and cultures than to just throw yourself into them."
Jenny grinning drew Enny's eyes to her lips and missed the first part of her reply. By the time he managed to refocus his attention, he only heard her say the words 'too early.' He did hear her talk about eating breakfast sometimes. "The only time you could be too early is if you're there before the class before lets out. And breakfast is actually really important. After sleeping all night, it's been a long time since supper the day before, and you need food for energy. If you wait until lunch, then the classes before only get half-attention, if that."
Jenny's face told him he'd been dead-on about her essay habits before she nodded. "Not just McGonagall - I'll help you with your other essays too."
Enny figured he could definitely get used to this whole 'kissing' thing. When Jenny pulled back, she did not move very far and Enny thought he could almost feel her lips moving against his. Her sudden change to a whisper, which Enny didn't know she was capable of doing, had the effect of making Enny pay more attention to her words than he already had been. Her words, accompanied by the definite twinkle in her eyes, actually rendered Enny mildly speechless. He hadn't had anything planned to say to start with, but now it would take him longer to think of something. He had to use some serious effort to make his mind stop extrapolating her asking how good she had to be to include various activities and no small amount on innuendo. Why did his body have to pick now to remember that he was 17?!
"How good? Well, er, I suppose it'd have to be judged on a combination of length and accuracy." Inwardly cringing, Enny tried to elaborate his sentence to make it less awkward (or so it seemed to be for him). "If it's supposed to be a certain length, then I'll check at maybe halfway, or just randomly along the way. If it only needed a little correcting, that would be a big reward, length plus accuracy, but if you got the whole thing done and it was jumpy and illogical then you'll only get rewarded for the length. Something like that. Either way, the earlier you get it done well, the more time you'll have to be rewarded with." Enny could feel the blush spreading up his cheeks - he had managed to get used to the affection, but semi-blatant offering himself as a reward was still in Enny's rather large Awkward Zone.
[[hogeeze. it may have taken me a while, but you won't be lacking for things to respond to.... no rush on replying."

Jenny, being Jenny, did not take in the academic point of his statement. Instead the only thing she took in was him mentioning meeting her family. "Meet your family?" she asked positively beaming. The thought seemed pretty obvious. Of course they'd be meeting each others families before too long. Knowing to be true, and hearing him say it out loud were too very different things. "I love the idea," she whispered kissing him lightly on the lips.
She nodded. It made sense of course. That he had already mastered the art of living without magic before he found out he had magic. Muggles had to survive somehow. They didn't have terribly impatient mothers with the choice of just giving in to what their stubborn four year old wanted so they could deal with the other five other girls. It was much easier to brush her teeth with magic for her, or show her how to do it with magic herself when that's the only thing she'll agree too. She nodded thoughtfully. "It might be fun," she said still in thought. It would be a new experience. She liked to do things at least once. Plus, like Enny said, it would come in handy later and probably on her exam. Not to mention that would mean she wouldn't need to read the book... right? That made sense... to her at least. Maybe she shouldn't mention it to Enny. He probably wouldn't approve. Muggle Studies tests weren't that in depth though, it would probably work.
Emphasis on the 'if that.' The classes after lunch were lucky if they got half-attention. Again, probably a bad thing to mention to her Ravenclaw boyfriend. The thought of getting up even earlier to eat breakfast wasn't particularly appealing to her. Unless of course she could spend that time with Enny... perhaps then it would be a bit more appealing. "Maybe," she said yet again agreeing with is plans to make her a better student. She was especially agreeable today for some reason it seemed. Hannah had tried for months to get her in these good habits. Of course, perhaps it was just he person trying... Enny did have that sort of effect on her. "If I can eat it with you I suppose I might try it a few days a week," she said winking at him.
She wrinkled her nose. Ah yes. Her other essays. Actually working hard on every single one of them? That just sounded ridiculously boring. Even if it was with Enny it would get old fast. No wonder he never had any time for fun before if he put this much effort into everything. "All of them?" she asked him. "How will we have time to do anything else she asked him?" Apparently her 'agree with everything he says' mood was reaching its limits for the day.
Her innuendo seemed to have much more of an affect then she'd thought it would. Which Jenny couldn't help but find slightly amusing. She started giggling part way through his speech on what what would be 'good.' He hadn't gone towards an innuendo of his own, and had answered very seriously. However, the way he worded it... well if someone had just heard her statement and the beginning of his their minds would be jumping straight into the gutter. She managed to laugh silently leaning her head against Enny's shoulder to keep her stable. She didn't want to get him kicked out of the library. After a moment or so she managed to calm herself and looked back up at Enny. She grinned, biting her bottom lip gently. "Length and accuracy?" she said eyes twinkling from the laughter she was holding in. "What an interesting way to word it."
[[So... I'm in a strange mood. xD Sorry if the last paragraph is a little... strange. xD]]
