{ About The CHARACTER }
x Olivia Helen Amerson"Liv"
CANNON OR ORIGINAL: Original YEAR: Seventh AGE: 17 DOB: November 21 RACE: White GENDER: Female SEXUALITY: Straight WAND: 11.25 in, white birch BROOM: n/a PET: An older white owl with dark brown wing tips named Ollie.
APPEARANCE: At first glance Olivia looks like your average teenage witch. She has long brown hair that falls to a few inches past her shoulders. Her brown hair varies between a dark brown and a light brown depending on the season and the lighting. It’s usually stick straight though occasionally she’ll sleep on it wet and it will have a light curl to it. She has chocolate brown eyes that go nicely with her hair.
Olivia would be happy in plain jeans and a t-shirt or standard witch’s robes, but her mother tends to force her to dress in more ‘designer’ labels, and so she wears her designer one-of-a-kind jeans anywhere she wants. She usually dresses casually though she knows how to clean up quite nicely. So she tends to look casual in her over-priced designer label clothes, and she doesn’t really spend a lot of time on her appearance.
Her skin is pale, but it doesn’t look unhealthy. It might be tanner if she spent more time outside in the sun. She falls on the tall side of the scale for a girl at 5’9. She’s thin, graceful looking arms and legs. Her body looks like it could be that of a dancer. Her outer appearance isn’t intimidating, but she can be quite the opposite if you tick her off. She also has ‘the look’ which she’s had since she was a young that can make you feel like a complete idiot, if you’re intimidated by looks that is. FACE CLAIM: Ashley Greene
PERSONALITY DESCRIPTION: Some call Olivia cruel, and some call her hilarious. She’s extremely sarcastic and nobody is spared from that, even those she does like. Every other line out of her mouth is sarcastic. She’s extremely opinionated, and she’s not afraid to let you know exactly what she thinks of you. Olivia is very judgmental and she tends to stereo-type. She hates quite a few people, but she doesn’t base that off their background. (She has enough things she will judge them off.) She can’t stand gossip or those girls who do gossip. She also hates giggling and drama so her friends tend to be guys with a few acceptions. (Guys are also less sensitive to her criticism and sarcasm anyways.) People who are nice all the time annoy her, and she’s much more likely to respect someone who has a clever retort to her sarcasm. She can’t stand stupid people. If you think she doesn’t like you, there’s a good chance she doesn’t. However, her sarcasm doesn’t stop if she decides she likes you. Olivia doesn’t hate everyone and if you’re some-what smart, have a sense of humor, and you can joke along with her she’s probably going to at least be able to tolerate you. She doesn’t act this way to be mean; it’s just the way she is.
Olivia is her own person. She doesn’t go out of her way to break away from the norm, but she doesn’t do things she doesn’t agree with. She’s quite the feminist, and if you tell her she isn’t allowed to do something because she’s ‘a lady’ there will be hell to pay. She hates the supposed ‘pureblood traditions’ she’s expected to partake in. She detests arranged marriages (and ‘proper breeding’) and isn’t that fond of romance in general. She hates fairytales, and doesn’t read a lot of fiction in general. She finds it ridiculous and unrealistic. Not everyone has a happy ending. In fact, most don’t. She prefers non-fiction. She tends to believe the worst in people and has a very pessimistic view of the world.
Olivia is really smart, and this makes her somewhat arrogant. She knows she’s smart, and she shows it. She doesn’t have to study very much, and it’s hard for her to understand how someone would have to read it twelve times to finally get it. She also tends to get what she wants. She doesn’t ‘want’ a lot of things, but when she does want it she can usually manipulate her way to getting it. When she’s not being sarcastic she can be extremely charismatic. She doesn’t really bother to care about people in general. She cares about her family and close friends, but she’s not about to stick up for someone she doesn’t even know unless they’re completely helpless for reasons outside of their control. If it’s your own fault you’re in you present situation, she’s not going to feel bad for you.
Olivia loves her family though, and she cares about them a lot. She isn’t terribly fond of her parents, but she was always really close with both of her brothers. It’s only in recent years that she’s been drifting away from her oldest brother since he’s become cold and distant due to being a death eater. Her brothers have both joined opposite sides of the war, but Olivia refuses to take any side. She’s not going to judge someone based of their blood, but she has a whole list of other things she’ll judge them by. BOGGART: Her brothers dueling to the death. PATRONUS: Fox HOPES FOR THE FUTURE: Olivia would love to do Potions research. She also refuses to have her husband chosen for her.
SPECIAL ABILITIES: She’s extremely talented in Potions. BLOOD: Pureblood BIRTHPLACE: England, Amerson Manor MY FAMILY: Anthony Amerson [Father, important ministry official] Elaina Amerson [Mother, socialite] Andrew Amerson [Brother, 21, former Slytherin, Death Eater] Evander Amerson [Brother, 19, former Gryffindor, fighting against the Death Eaters] Isadora Levine [Sister-in-law to be, 19, former Gryffindor, muggleborn, also fighting the Death Eaters] Grandparents: Olivia Mason, Evan Mason, Helen Amerson, and Andrew Amerson WHATS IN THE PAST: Anthony Amerson and Elaina Mason were betrothed less than a month after Elaina was born. Their mothers, Olivia and Helen, had been old school friends. Elaina’s mother, Olivia, didn’t get a son like she wanted was told the Healers told her she couldn’t have any more kids. So Olivia immediately went straight to Helen who had a six month year old son at home. The two decided that their children would be an ideal match, and it would tie two noble pureblood families together. So Elaina and Anthony grew up together both knowing that they’d be married a year after graduation. Elaina and Anthony were both Slytherins, and they were perfect stereo-types for their house. Both of them were cruel, manipulative, cunning, in to dark magic, and against ‘mudbloods.’ They really were an excellent match. The two never really loved each other, it’s doubtful whether either of them could have loved anybody, but they liked each other alright, and they certainly had the lust thing down.
Elaina found out she was pregnant almost a month before graduation. It would have been a scandal for both families if it had gotten out. So Anthony and Elaina were married immediately after graduation, and seven months later Andrew was born ‘early.’ There were rumors, but Olivia and Helen worked hard to squash them and nothing was ever proven. Two years later Evander was born, and just over a year after that Olivia was born. Elaina fit right into her mother’s social network, and she decided that she wasn’t going to miss another party season. She was done.
Anthony, Evander, and Olivia were very close as children. Elaina had never been the kind of woman people would call maternal, and so the Amerson children were raised by nannies and house elves until Olivia was five when their parents decided that it was time the children started getting their training. Private tutors were hired and since none of the children had started their lessons, they all started on the same spot. Olivia was a smart girl, and she learned faster than either brother despite being younger. They were also put into lessons for their ‘proper upbringing.’ They had etiquette lessons, ballroom dancing classes, and various hobbies their parents deemed ‘appropriate’ for them. Olivia was forced into ballet lessons (with other witches to be, not muggles of course) and violin lessons. She took nothing from violin lessons and was terrible at it. Finally at age eight she convinced her parents let her drop it. The only thing she took from ballet was a sense of balance and a few of the little tricks she’ll do absent mindedly sometimes. She continued with those until she began Hogwarts. (It was a bargain, they let her drop violin and she wouldn’t complain about ballet.) Their parents also started teaching them the things that were taught by parents unofficially. They pressed into them that they were better than people who didn’t have money, or more importantly, better than those who had ‘dirty blood.’
Just before Olivia turned nine Andrew went off to school and she was left with just Evander. Olivia and Evander had always been the closest, so it wasn’t a huge difference. Andrew was the perfect pureblood son and of course was sorted into Slytherin and immediately set about making friends with ‘all the right people.’ When it was Evan’s turn to go off to school two years later to everyone’s shock he was sorted into Gryffindor. He received an angry letter from his parents telling him better not embarrass them any more and ‘shape up.’ Evander, who had always been a bit of a rebel, immediately set about to do just that. However, at home Olivia was scared into not ‘messing up’ like her brother. Olivia still desired to fit in with her family. During her year without either brother her parents decided she had enough with the private tutor since she was already three years ahead of where Evan was and where Andrew had been when they went off to school. So Olivia was told she could read on her own if she really wanted to. So Olivia did. She fell in love with her parents’ old Potions books that they’d hardly opened when they actually had the class, and began to get more books. She had already tested out about half of the potions that they did in first year before she even arrived at school, and was successful in most of them.
At school Olivia began to develop into more of her own person just as Evander had done. However Olivia, who had always been close to both her brothers, refused to take sides. Olivia developed a very sarcastic nature that she was soon known for. Over the years Olivia continued to refuse to hate muggleborns because they were muggleborns. (She does hate quite a few of them though; she’s extremely judgmental and opinionated.) She also refused to flat out rebel against her family, and welcome them with open arms. Everyone had to prove themselves to her first. However Evander and Andrew were both heading deeper and deeper into opposite sides of the war. They began not to follow these paths because of what their parents thought, but because it’s what they believed. Evander was disowned finally at age 16 after he told his parents he was going to marry Isadora Levine, a Gryffindor muggleborn. He moved in with a friend he shared a dorm with. After Andrew graduated he joined the Death Eaters much to his parents’ joy, and when Evan graduated he joined up with the other side with Isadora right by his side. Olivia still talks to Evan even though her parents forbid her from every talking to him again. Her relationship with Evander is strong; however the one with Andrew has changed dramatically. She now fears him somewhat though she still loves him.
At home Olivia has to deal with her parents trying to force her into the pureblood lady’s life. She refuses to follow traditions such as ‘coming out’ or having an arranged marriage which annoys and worries her mother. She’s become somewhat of a feminist, and she detests any pureblood traditions that would suppress her into being just another socialite. She wants to do research in Potions (creating new ones, improving the ones we have, etc) and she is hardly going to give that up so she can get married and have kids with some guy she doesn’t even like.
|{ OTHER INFO }
RP EXAMPLE: Olivia Amerson walked up the stairs to the Owlery. It was a Tuesday morning so she already had her uniform on for classes. Her uniform was neat and put together as usual and there were two letters slipped into the pocket of her robes. Her school bag with her books for the day was thrown over her shoulder. When she finally reached the top of the stairs Olivia took her bag off and set on the floor (careful to avoid owl droppings) and sat in the loan chair. Her owl, Ollie, flew over to her. Olivia stroked her bird and pulled out the two letters. She opened the first to read over it. -Ev it began, and then she had continued on responding to every thing her brother had told her in his last letter. Much of her response was dripping with sarcasm as usual. Evander had inherited the sarcasm gene as well, and he always found Olivia’s comments amusing even when they were making fun of him. The two could go back and forth for ages with out actually getting offended. It just became a sort of competition between the two that they both seemed to enjoy very much. She grinned. No way would he be able to top that last line, she thought smugly to her self. Then it ended with -Love you, Liv. There was a postscript added to the end for him to tell Isadora that she said hi. That probably meant she’d be getting a letter from her brother’s fiancé fairly soon. She liked Izzy well enough. A bit nice for her taste, but the ex-Gryffindor appreciated her sarcasm, and had asked Olivia to be her Maid of Honor when they finally got married. Plus she made Evander happy. She could hardly hate her. (Well she could, and would have if she had wanted too.)
She sealed the letter satisfied with its contents. She opened the other one. This one was addressed to her other brother, Andrew. This letter was much shorter and not quite as full of sarcasm and witty remarks as the last. Andrew had not inherited the seemingly recessive gene of sarcasm as his two younger siblings. He had spent half of his last letter telling Olivia if she really wants independence as a woman she should join up with the death eaters (not in those exact words, but it was implied). Otherwise, she should stop whining and find a guy she can stand before Mum picked one out for her. That statement had irritated the hell out of Olivia, and she had considered writing a letter chewing him out, but instead that statement had only received a brief mentioning that basically said ‘I wouldn’t mention that again if I were you’ in words not quite so nice as that. She had signed the letter the same as Evander’s. Love you, Liv. Without the postscript of course. She sighed and sealed this letter as well. She looked around for a Hogwarts owl to send her other letter. She found a large barn owl and coaxed him down. She’d send Ollie to Ev’s. Ollie was more reliable, plus Evander loved the bird. (He loved to taunt her owl actually, but Liv loved to taunt him too, he was such an irritable bird. It was a miracle he tolerated the two. The old softy.) She tied the letter to the barn owl first and sent him off. She was tying Evander’s letter to Ollie’s leg when someone walked into the room. She turned to see who it was. More importantly to see if it was someone who needed a sarcastic comment via Olivia Amerson. It was someone Olivia didn’t know. (This wasn’t saying much, she didn’t talk about people and she really just didn’t care in general who some random person was.) She was fairly sure he was in her year though… possibly her house too. He was also freakishly tall. The jolly green giant, that was sure to be something she could comment on. That was sure to be something she could comment on if the situation merited it. ANSWER: Hedwig died! It was completely unnecessary! OTHER:
