APPEARANCE: Her eyes are like the stars, a hazel blended delicately with a creamy beige and fleckled generously with greens and blues. They twinkle with contentment, forming with the contour of a wide, glossy-lipped smile. Sophisticated glasses, framed with slim silver wires, rest delicately on the bridge of her nose. She is a tall woman who stands just above average height, topping 5’8” tall with a slight frame and slim hips. Her skin is warm from sunshine, but not dark in her worship and sparsely freckled on her arms and face. Aelwyn’s long hair is blond and loosely curled around her soft features. She has a pixie-like nose and soft cheekbones, but her jaw line is very sharp and ends at a small cleft at her chin. On her left eyebrow and jaw are two discrete scars that have healed well from injury.
Aelwyn enjoys both looking professional and casual. She doesn’t go overboard with her clothing and it normally remains very simple and attractive but not at all showy. Her favorite clothes tend to cover her well because of her modestly for the light scars on her body. The professor rarely wears any jewelry, and if she does they tend to be small earrings or light necklaces.

PERSONALITY DESCRIPTION: Softly spoken and a normally calm fixture, Aelwyn is a demure young woman who people enjoy being around. Despite her profession and interests she is very down to earth and sharply aware of the world around her. She enjoys taking in things as much as she enjoys the stars and with her sensitivity can usually detect when things are wrong with others. Normally she’ll extend a hand to those and welcome them to come to her should they need it. Her natural presence is reassuring and some find it very easy to speak to her while others place her in a temporary maternal role. Either way, as a caring elder, she doesn’t mind taking the time to help others.
Professionally she’s a very difficult professor to take advantage of. She likes speaking with her students to better understand who they are and what they understand of the subject, but she dislikes downright rudeness and disrespect. Aelwyn has the wit and the authority to put anyone on the spot and make them uncomfortable with their actions. During school she can be a very strong woman who is very passionate about her subject. She also has the presence that demands respect and has the ability to make her lectures interesting through interaction.
She’s gifted with a social grace, being able to interact well with others and understand feelings with an almost empathic sense. More intimate relationships on the other hand are enough to cause her to stumble. If pursued by another romantically Aelwyn gets nervous and edgy and would rather ignore what was going on than confront it. The time spent with her ex husband has given her a very domestic house-wife appearance, but because of her own parents and her recent marriage, she’s unsure of her place in the normal role of a spouse or partner. What she has been taught was to listen to the man in her life or face the consequences.
Aelwyn is just a mellow, intelligent woman who enjoys being with other people, teaching her subject, and the freedom of divorce. She’s just like every other human being who has days when she’s upset or happy or as dynamic as she pleases.

WHATS IN THE PAST: The marriage between Molly and Patrick Ahlgren was one for beneficial gain. Molly’s father was a businessman and used his daughter as a bargaining chip for expansion and literally pawned her off. The Ahlgren clan seized the opportunity and within a couple of months Molly was married. Together they had six children, even though they found there was financial discomfort at four. By the time they had reached six, they were on hand-me-downs and lots of potatoes. Aelwyn was the fourth child born, and she grew up in an unsettling reality where the husband beat his wife after having a little too much to drink. By the time she was eleven Hogwarts proved to be a godsend. For a few months out of the year, she and her three older brothers were out of the little cottage where they all lived and were able to learn and enjoy themselves. Aelwyn’s only regret was leaving her baby sister at home.
The family was dispersed through the houses, creating heavy house rivalry between the siblings. They grew up, one after the other graduating from Hogwarts, and left to the wizarding world. Aelwyn proved her talents as a responsible student and became a prefect at the time.
Once she graduated, she went to study with Lunesta who had decided to take her on as an apprentice. It was after that when she met Nolan. He seemed nice at first. He spoke to her kindly and assisted her in things and never touched her in any way she was not willing. Aelwyn did notice a slightly disturbing possessive streak, and sometimes he would grip her arm a little too hard, but to her it was something she was used to, so she didn’t think much of it. They got married a year later (at Nolan’s insisting) and she moved in with him. She brought along her two younger siblings and supported them with the money she’d saved up in the past and what she was currently making as an apprentice. Nolan didn’t like it, but Aelwyn wanted her siblings safe if she could provide for them.
It wasn’t until after they were married, and when her siblings were away, that she realized how abusive Nolan could be. He had a short temper with her that was sparked through jealous tendencies, and a few times a month he would just explode at her. These didn’t really come as a surprise, as Aelwyn could feel them coming, but her urge to get away before he did anything usually made him angrier. He always hit her on the torso and the legs, where no one would see, until he felt justified and left for a few days.
It was one of these occasions that occurred at the wrong time. Nolan normally behaved himself in the summer because of witnesses (Sarah and Noah) and didn’t come home very often. But one day he caught one of her coworkers looking at her a little too fondly. Wanting her. It infuriated him, and he arrived home that evening and beat Aelwyn within an inch of her life, and tortured her with the infamous Cruciatus curse. Her little sister, Sarah, who just happened to come home called in the officials and Nolan was taken away. They were married for six years.
Nolan was placed in a minimum-security prison for three years after adding other charges. Sarah convinced her to divorce him, so she did. For three years she continued her work at the ministry, and the year Nolan was to be released from prison she applied at Hogwarts for the Astronomy position.

RP EXAMPLE: All the stories ever written about an injured person pulling out of their restful sleep described it as pulling out of the fog, coming to the light, or awakening with a start. Experiencing it herself, Aelwyn severely disagreed with the texts. She was suspended in pain, floating on the surface of it for who knows how long before the light started invading her. Light, ringing in her head like a nest of angry bees rattled against her skull, ringing in her ears. A soft sound escaped her lips, and a shadow appeared to block out the light.
“Sis???” Sarah. “She’s waking up! Noah, go get the nurse! Gogo!” The voices and the scuffing of her brother’s shoes on the floor hurt her ears, but the pain wasn’t half as bad as she felt deep in her bones. “Wynnie? I’m so glad you’re awake please tell me you’re still sane-”
“Please,” Aelwyn croaked pathetically. “The lights…” Her sister made a surprised sound and hurried to dim the lighting. Sore eyes peeled themselves open, blinking away the goo that was probably smeared over them to keep the swelling down. “What… Hap-”
“Shh…” Sarah, a smaller, fiercer replica of herself was crying over a bandaged hand. “They’ve been applying all the healing they can, but you need to relax.”
“Sarah-” Aelwyn felt tears springing in her eyes.
“It’s okay, sis. He can’t hurt you anymore. I promise, I won’t let him.”
