{ About The CHARACTER }
x Poppy Fiona Pomfrey"No Funny Business"
CANNON OR ORIGINAL: Cannon AGE: 20 DOB: June 5, 1957 RACE: Caucasian GENDER: Female SEXUALITY: Heterosexual WAND: Solid Curly Maple, 15", Essence of Faerie Eyelash BROOM: Comet PET: She has a cat named Frances
APPEARANCE: Poppy stands at a tall height, coming in somewhere around 5’9”. Her figure isn’t skinny, but she isn’t big either. To be honest, her figure is simply normal, and she’s perfectly fine with it. Her hair reaches to her mid-back and is thick and curly. This fact annoys her a bit, since it makes her hair harder to take care of. On humid days her hair looks like an overgrown bush, and other days she simply can’t get it to do anything. Despite the difficulty of her wavy mane, she’s still proud of her hair overall. The color is a shade of golden-brown and she loves the color, especially when she’s in the sun. Poppy’s face is on the smallish side, giving her face an almost pixie look. Her nose is turned up slightly on the end, though not enough to really be noticeable. However, Poppy likes the Grecian look it gives her features and is rather vain when it comes to her nose. Her smile, in the way it turns up at the corners, seems to have a slight hint of secrecy to it, as if she knew something you didn’t that made the joke even more amusing. Poppy’s eyes are a light brown, though in some lights her eyes look green. Either way, they are warm, friendly eyes, but with a gleam in them that tells anyone who meets her that she means business. The majority of the time, Poppy’s mouth is set in a determined smirk, and her facial expression falls into the ‘I’m perfectly capable of almost anything’ look.
Poppy’s style is best described as simple, though nice. She’s very put together and has an air of control about her. When in casual clothes Poppy wears normal wizarding clothes, with her favorites being in tones of reds and yellows. Yes, she wears other colors, but those two happen to be her favorites. When at work she wears her medi-witch’s robes and indeed looks the part with her take control aurora. Poppy prefers to wear skirts, but when she does she makes sure that her skirts fall just below her knee because of her long legs. Seriously, her legs are major long and she tries to wear things that make them look natural. She doesn’t want to be the girl that all people notice about is her long legs, and she certainly doesn’t want to look skanky. Because of this, she wears clothes that accentuate her waist and draw attention away from her legs. She also refrains from wearing tall heels, preferring flats. One, they’re more comfortable when working and two, they don’t make her look like the Jolly Green Giant. FACE CLAIM: Tamsin Egerton
PERSONALITY DESCRIPTION: When it comes down to it, Poppy is a no-nonsense woman. However, she also has a motherly side to her. This combination definitely helps in her job, which she takes very seriously. Being a medi-witch at Hogwarts is no easy task and should be performed with the utmost care. After all, you have hundreds of kids to care for and their ailments range from very small, to very big. Poppy is focused and always has been. She usually has a plan for almost everything, including her life. Ever since she was five she had wanted to be a medi-witch, and when she entered her fifth year and got her career counseling, she had no problem telling her head of house exactly what she wanted to do. Indeed, she even knew every requirement there was for her chosen career, and she did everything to a tee. One setback to her go-getter personality is that she can’t stand not having a plan. When she doesn’t know exactly what will happen in her life a month in advance, she kinda freaks out. The girl has a planner that she carries in her pocket, and she basically has her life planned out in this book. If she does something not in her book, or doesn’t do something in the book, she goes back and fills/crosses the event out. Needless to say she’s extremely organized and her living quarters and workspace are always neat and orderly.
However, Poppy isn’t as uptight as some might imagine. She’s organized and planned, but she knows how to laugh and have a good time. She’s extremely bright, so she has a quick and witty sense of humor, and she knows how to take a joke. Although she likes it when things go according to plan, she sees the joy in life and tries to enjoy every minute of it. Poppy is also motherly, which comes partly from being the oldest of eight. When taking care of younger students, she knows exactly what to say to make them feel less scared and hurt. She cuddles when the kids need it, and almost always has a smile. At the same time, she takes her job seriously (as stated before) and keeps order in the hospital wing in a very motherly manner. Poppy can be rather dry and droll and with her smirking mouth, people find it extremely amusing to be around her. Poppy is quite brilliant and she knows it. Sometimes she can be a bit uppity about her smarts, but the majority of the time she’s extremely humble and wants to be treated like any other person. As far as her temper goes, she’s level and doesn’t tend to lose her temper quickly. Her anger doesn’t come in spats, but rather grows in silence, a steady sort of anger. So, when she becomes angry, it’s much harder to calm her. BOGGART: Her planned little world coming apart and a student dying because she did something wrong. PATRONUS: A badger HOPES FOR THE FUTURE: Poppy hopes to become the head of the hospital wing at Hogwarts.
SPECIAL ABILITIES: She’s extremely bright, but other than that, not really. BLOOD: Half-blood BIRTHPLACE: Cardiff, Wales MY FAMILY: Father: Owen Pomfrey Mother: Eilonwy Pomfrey Brothers: Bran Pomfrey (17) Caradoc Pomfrey (14) Iefen Pomfrey (12) Steffan Pomfrey (9) Gareth Pomfrey (7) Llewelyn Pomfrey (4) Parry Pomfrey (1)
WHATS IN THE PAST: Owen and Eilonwy met, not as many wizarding couples do, outside of Hogwarts. Owen was working in the Department of Mysteries, and Eilonwy was working in the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes. They met over lunch one day, randomly striking up a conversation, and began to like each other. After about a year the two were married, and soon they had Poppy. After Poppy, Owen and Eilonwy didn’t exactly stop having kids. They had seven boys after Poppy, with Poppy being the only girl. This made for a busy and rowdy household, and the fact that Eilonwy is a laid-back woman didn’t exactly help make things orderly. Being the older sister to seven younger brothers is no easy task, and Poppy felt it her duty to help her mother raise the boys, or ‘the brood’ as she fondly called her younger brothers. This fact has given Poppy her motherly and bossy quality, and she is certainly no stranger to dealing with young, rambunctious kids. Owen and Eilonwy were disciplined enough with their children to have them all turn out to be well-behaved youngsters, but the Pomfrey household was and is one of warmth, noise, and general organized chaos. Eilonwy felt that if the boys wanted to romp and play, then they should be allowed to, so long as they didn’t break anything. Because of the constant presence of young boys, there aren’t many breakable valuables lying around the house, and the house in general has that definite lived in feel, though extremely inviting to anyone who sets foot in the front door.
It was in this atmosphere that Poppy grew up. She did not, however, inherit as much of her parents’ laidback attitude and instead took the ‘let’s get some order around her’ approach to things. She never resented her parents for having so many kids and for looking to her to help. Instead, she relished in ‘her brood of crazy boys’ and decided that she wanted to be a Medi-witch when she grew up and work with younger kids. When Poppy was eleven, she received her Hogwarts letter and boarded the train, but to her family’s sadness, though they were eager and happy for her. She was sorted into the Ravenclaw house and this was indeed a fitting house for the girl. She worked her hardest to excel in her classes, and she usually did, coming out in the top for the majority of her classes. Her professors noticed the girl’s brightness and encouraged her to figure out what she wanted to do after Hogwarts. Poppy was way ahead of them on this, and promptly pulled out a brochure on Medi-witches and announced that she wanted to work with kids specifically. She then proceeded to give them a list of good reasons she had to do the job she wanted, and Dumbledore was so amused and impressed he offered her a future position at Hogwarts. This fulfilled Poppy’s dream and she eagerly worked in her NEWT classes so that she would be able to be ahead when she started her training.
When her younger brothers also arrived at Hogwarts, Poppy was ecstatic and took it as her duty to look after them and their friends. Since they were so used to their older sister, the boys weren’t very embarrassed by her and accepted the looking after, and watched out for their older sister in turn. After graduating, Poppy went straight to training and graduated a bit early, since she also went in the summer to learn what she needed. Then she eagerly packed her bags and headed back to Hogwarts, this time as a nurse instead of a student. While she is not yet the head Medi-witch, she’s being trained for the position, as the head at the moment was rather old and ready to retire. Plus, she had had a bit too many visits from rambunctious boys for her liking. With a laugh, Poppy had informed her that rowdy boys were just what she liked. She’s always been the one to organize and boss people around, and she looking forward to working with the Hogwarts students. Plus, she gets to take care of her brothers that are at Hogwarts, and this makes her feel right at home.
CAREER: Medi-witch EXPERIENCE: This is her first full-time job. She went through her healer training and is rather advanced for her age. She’s being trained to take over the job of being head of the infirmary at Hogwarts. SCHOOLING:Hogwarts, Ravenclaw house.

RP EXAMPLE: ((using one as Andromeda)) Andromeda let go of her trunk with a thud. Looking at the railings, the brunette contemplated whether to leave her trunk where it was or heft the thing up there. Then an idea hit her. Whipping out her wand, she levitated the trunk up to the railing and nodded in satisfaction. Turning around to shut the door, she hit her elbow on the wall, resulting in some very explicit language to come out of her mouth. Slamming the door shut, the Gryffindor threw herself onto the seat and sighed in frustration. She was extremely eager to get back to Hogwarts... summer with her family had about driven her crazy. There were always parties going on and her mother kept trying to set her up with pure-blood pricks. Of course, Andy had no interest whatsoever in those boys, since she was secretly dating Ted. The thought of Ted made the girl smile a little and she wondered when he would arrive on the train.
Looking out the window, Andy jumped in surprise when she saw her mother still standing on the platform. Her father hadn't even come down the the train station, and the girl was surprised that her mother was still hanging around. Shaking her head, Andy remembered what her mother had said earlier that day. 'Yes, Andromeda just has to get back to being a Gryffindor, doesn't she?'. Andy had responded to this by saying her mother was meaner than usual and if she was sober. At her mother's reply of 'It's 8 in the morning.' the smartass girl just nodded and said, "So it's not that then." resulting in a glare from her alcohol loving mother. Then, grabbing the rest of her bagel, Andy had retreated to her room to finish packing. She just couldn't stand to be around her family any longer. She wanted to be back at Hogwarts with friends and Ted.
With a 'hmph', the middle Black sister slipped her grey shoes off and tucked her feet underneath her. Brushing some hair out of her face, she searched through her book bag until she found a book that caught her attention. The History of Band of Doxies was a book about her favorite wizarding band, and Andy had bought it when she had gone to get school supplies. Not having a chance to read it between then and now, Andy decided to give it a read until something more interesting entered the compartment. After a few pages, the girl became extremely absorbed in the book and didn't hear the compartment door slide open. Turning the page, a movement caught her eye and, looking up, she jumped slightly in surprise when she saw a person standing there. "Thanks for knocking." She stated dryly, though she was smiling happily at the boy. ANSWER: So many people died. *tear* OTHER:
