A/N: Its a Lan/Lisette I wrote at the last day of school while everyone else was mingling in my Peer Counseling class. I wrote it in my one hour period, so sorry if its a bit rushed. The lyrics are from the song "Stolen" by Dashboard Confessional. Its written in Lan's point of view, so Lindsey, if I messed Lan up, I apologize right now! I also apologize for the long time it took me to find it, lose it and find it again. Shame on me!

We watch the season
Pull up it’s own stakes
And catch the last weekend
Of the last week
Before the gold and the glamour have been replaced
Another sun soaked season fades away
The summer had ended far too quickly for Lan Dawkins. Sure his summer hadn't been all that grand, but he still wished it could have been longer. So the Netherlands hadn't been all that much fun, at least the Alps was a pretty sight. And no, he probably couldn't stand another week or two with his older sister Leslee, but he knew he'd miss Laurel and Lucy bunches.
His last year at Hogwarts would probably be like every other year. He'd meet with his twin, Liesl, every once in a while but he'd spend most of his days in the less crowded areas of the castle, like the Library or the Towers. He'd avoid the common room at all costs.
Though a Slytherin, he didn't share in his Housemate's beliefs. He accepted Muggleborns as equals. Blood had nothing to do with strength and talent. And was he sure he didn't want to go jinx the 3rd Year Hufflepuff boy? Yes. Worse, everyone judged him by the colors on his robes and the etched 'S' on his chest. He hated people like that, though he didn't go over and clear things up. Still, he wasn't about to make friends with people who judged you before even speaking to you.
The familiar sights and sounds of the first day of school greeted him as he passed though Platform Nine and Three-Quarters. The huge, black Hogwarts Express awaited patiently as students began to load their trunks, owls and other belongings; hurrying to find familiar faces and a decent compartment.
After saying goodbye to his mother, he and his twin boarded the train to find an empty compartment to themselves. Liesl followed him in, but when Lan turned back to inform her he had found a compartment free of students he noticed she had vanished. He shrugged, she had friends and had obviously found them. Well that suited him just fine. In the meantime, he would lie down and take a nap.
***
A strong jolt, caused Lan to hit his head and awake. He opened his eyes and noticed his sister behind a book. He gave a loud groan, his back was killing him.
"I warned you about sleeping on trains." Liesl's teasing voice reached his ears. He groaned again. His back was hurting, but he couldn't ignore the pangs in his stomach, signaling his hunger.
"Did the trolley come by?" He asked sitting up and stretching. He made a mental note to listen to his twin next time.
"A few minutes ago actually," Liesl replied, nodding. "You can still catch it."
He nodded and opened the door. "Want anything?" He asked before leaving. She gave him a small smile and an arched brow. "Droobles, gotcha." He said with a nod. It was kind of spooky how he could read his sister like that, but then again they
were twins.
After wandering around a bit, he caught up to the trolley lady and bought a pack of Droobles, two pumpkin pasties and a licorice wand for himself. He turned and ran right into someone, spilling his sweets.
"Oh I'm so sorry!"
"Its my fault." Lan was on all fours picking up the spilled sweets. "I should have paid attention to where I was going."
He got up and helped her to her feet. "Thanks," She said tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. She had a pair of brilliant dark eyes. He couldn't help but stare for a few seconds. Her hair was as dark as night and in soft curls. On her robes she wore the colors of the Ravenclaw House and a Prefect badge.

Sense finally kicked in and he moved to the left, so she could go about her business. Only she moved to his left as well, causing him to move the right and she followed suit. He stopped after two times and laughed, noting her blushing cheeks.
He moved out of the way, allowing her to step forward. "I'll see you around," He said, nodding as if to confirm it. She nodded and gave him a small wave, walking off into the direction of her own compartment leaving Lan with a smile on his face.
The rest of the ride was mainly uneventful. He read, chatted a bit with Liesl and stared out the window. One of the few things he was able to do as they awaited arrival to Hogwarts. He wondered about the girl he had run into. Who was she? And why hadn't he seen her before?
***
He sat at the Slytherin table during the Sorting Ceremony. He was quiet, clapping politely as each First Year made their way to their new House. He tried to blend into his surroundings, but found it hard to do when happy-go-lucky Liesl waved at him every fifteen minutes or so. He'd make a face at her, but she wouldn't stop until he waved back.
After dinner the room grew quiet as Dumbledore rose for his start of term speech. It was the usual welcoming of new and returning students, but he added another announcement. A start of term dance.
He sighed loudly, another dance he wouldn't be attending no matter to his twin's pleadings. He wouldn't go, but he knew he'd have to put up to Liesl's nagging.
"Gentlemen," Dumbledore said with a twinkle in his eye. "Start working the those nerves to ask out the ladies." A few laughed nervously, while girls giggled. Lan seemed to be the only one with a frown on his face. He was a Slytherin, and everyone judged him by that. Other girls didn't want to even talk to him because they were frightened. His own Housemates steered clear of him for not agreeing. He couldn't help but smile as he thought of the dark-haired Ravenclaw. She hadn't seemed frightened of him at all. He sighed, he didn't even know her name.
***
"Lisette Vargas." Liesl answered promptly after he asked of her new friend. Liesl had made friends with her through her own Ravenclaw friend, Adessa Creed. "She's a sweet girl, really." She continued. "She's considerate of others. And she
loves to read. Typical Ravenclaw."
Lan nodded. So she had a name after all. She was Spanish, too he learned. Like Liesl had mentioned, she loved to read. He began to see her in the library often, but he couldn't muster enough courage to talk to her. She was popular as well. It seemed she knew everyone by name.
The passing days turned into weeks and before Lan knew it, he was in the third week of September. School and classes had settled into his routine and it was business as usual. He saw Lisette often, seeing as she and Liesl were best friends now. Those two instantly clicked, a good thing for Lan, since he was able to learn more about her.
"I'm not sure if what music she's into," Liesl told him one day. "But she seems fond of any kind of music. She's got a great voice. I heard her humming a lullaby yesterday in the Greenhouses. Like the ones Mum used to sing to Laurel." Lan nodded. So she loved music as well. Maybe even ballads, since she liked lullabies.
"Oh and she doesn't have a date to the ball." Liesl added, slipping out of the room. Lan sat and frowned. Was it that obvious that he liked her? How long had Liesl known?
***
He ran into Lisette the next morning. He was in the Owlery, sending a letter to his Mum and Dad. The two collided once more, just as he was entering and she leaving.
"Ouch!"
"Sorry!"
He smiled, recognizing her dark eyes. "Hey." She said remembering him. Lan gave her a nod back. He seemed to be tongue-tied at the moment.
"We have a habit of running into each other." He finally spoke with a grin. She blushed a bit and said "It seems so."
"Sending a letter?" He asked her, before mentally scolding himself. Of course she'd be sending a letter, it was the Owlery after all. But she didn't point it out. "Yeah, to my Mum and victor in London."
"That's great!" He said, "Uhm...I mean. Yeah..." He trailed off scratching the back of his head. He was acting like a such a dork. She must have thought him an idiot.
“Going to the Ball?” She asked, stroking an owl, probably her own. “I don’t have a date” He told her, tying a letter to his own owl.
“Oh.” She said, “Me neither.”
Lan took a deep breath. Might as well do it while she was still single. “Would you like to go with me?” Lan braced himself for a no.
“Okay!” She said eagerly, nodding her head and smiling brightly. He was dumbfounded. “Really?” He asked, looking into her eyes.
“Yeah!” She replied, nodding again as she did so. She was beautiful, he noticed. He wondered why he hadn’t paid any attention to her before.
“Great!” He told her. Her eyes said it all, this was no joke. She really did want to go to the ball with him.
The bell rang at that moment, signaling the start of classes in ten minutes. “Uhm...I’ll see you around then.” She told him, making her way out of the room. “Definitely.” Lan nodded.
***
If it could be possible, it seemed she was much more beautiful at the ball. She stood at the top of the stairs with Liesl and Adessa, but she stood out and radiated perfection. Her dress was pink, her hair in spiraling curls. She was breathtaking.
“Hello Mr. Dawkins.” She told him when she was by his side. “You look dashing tonight.”
“You look...amazing!” It took him a while to get the words out. He took her hand and gave her a twirl. “Most lovely.” He confirmed, making her smile.
“Oh please Lan,” He heard his twin behind the two. “You’re drooling.”
He opened his mouth to make a retort to her, but thought better of it and closed it. It would be better if he ignored her. The two laughed as they were met up by friends. He saw his sister do a jig and rolled his eyes. “C’mon Lisette. Lets leave this group, we have class.”
She giggled as she took his arm, smiling all the way inside. Lan wondered how he got through the night. He couldn’t dance ver well, but Lisette didn’t mind teaching him a few steps. The two spent most of their time laughing on the dance floor. He felt on top of the world and drunk with happiness. Before he knew it, the night was coming to a close.

He walked her to the Ravenclaw Portrait. The two were probably among the last to come in, but he didn’t care. It had been the best night of his life after all. “Thanks for tonight.” She told him as they reached the landing.
“Don’t lie.” He teased her, stuffing his hands in his pockets. “You’re probably glad to get rid of me.”
“No!” She said, a bit too loudly. She blushed and lowered her voice. “I mean no. I enjoyed myself.
Really.”
“Sorry.” He apologized, “I’m a horrible dancer. I should have taken classes when I was younger.”
“What for?” Lisette asked laughing. “I liked your poor dancing skills! It made it so much more fun out on the dance floor!”
He laughed along with her. “I’m glad you enjoyed yourself.” He told her, brushing the curls from her face. He noted that his tone was serious, but he didn’t care. He ran a finger along her cheek, moving in slowly.
He lifted her chin slightly with his finger, not tearing his eyes from her own dark eyes. They were close, so he could almost taste her. She had a strawberry-like scent to her. He his own reflection in her loving eyes before she closed them shut. He closed his own just as he felt his lips brush softly against her own. He could feel a small jolt through his body. His stomach was doing flips as he deepened the kiss a little. After about a minute he pulled back from her.
Her brilliant dark eyes met his. Her lips wore a small smile. “Goodnight Lan.” She told him, giving him a small wave. She walked up to the portrait and muttered the password.
“Goodnight.” He repeated, watching her form enter the darkness of the common room. “Goodnight.”

It had been a four months and Lan and Lisette were very much in love. Everyone knew of the happy couple. A few didn’t approve, but Lan thought nothing about what others thought. Lisette was the best thing to happen to him. He couldn’t imagine his life without her in it. She was everything to him and he cherished her every waking moment.

It was at the Christmas Ball that he realized how important she was to him. He had never been in love before, but he knew this was the real deal. He knew she was the girl of his dreams. He thought long and hard about it, day and night.
Tragedy struck for her. Earlier in the month she had received a letter, informing her of her parent’s stay at St. Mungos. The day after Christmas another letter arrived with grave news. Her parents were dead.
He was with her the whole day, trying to cheer her up. He needed to see her bright smile, to hear her laughter. He managed to do so by starting a snow ball fight. It got a lot of people and turned into a war, but at the end of the day, Lisette was happy and so was Lan.
In the following weeks he saw her struggle, and he’d be right by her side. She wasn’t going to go through it alone. He was willing to do anything for her. That night, lying in his bed, he realized he was ready for a life with her. They were at war. Who knew what tomorrow would bring? He loved her and he was more certain than he’d ever been certain in his life.

The next day he found her in the greenhouses with Liesl and her friend London. He managed to steal her away, and lead her up to the Room of Requirements. He closed her eyes before letting her enter, and let them open to softly lit candles and a romantic setting. He turned to her and ran a nervous hand through his hair. He had been thinking about it for so long, so why was it so difficult to get the words out?
He took a deep breath. “Uhm...I have a question to ask. . I'm not very good at this, and I don't know quite how I should ask it. I've never been in love before.” He took another deep breath. “Lisette, I love you. I love you more than I've ever loved anyone. And we don't know how much longer we're going to be together and safe, so I feel like the time is right to ask you this question and....... are you following any of this?" That would be perfect. If he wasn’t making any sense what so ever when he was trying to propose to her.
“I-I know.” She stammered. She looked nervous, maybe just as nervous as he was feeling. He took another deep breath and knelt before her, digging through his pocket for a little black box. "Lisette Andrea Vargas. Will you find it in the goodness of your perfect, beautiful heart to marry me?" He took the box out of his pocket and opened it, showing her the engagement ring his grandmother had given him to give to Lisette.
He saw Lisette’s mouth drop open. Tears began to brim her eyes and she was nodding, but not saying anything. “Of course!” The reply finally came out. He laughed and threw his arms around her, picking her up in a twirl and kissing her. He felt the happiest man alive right now.

A gentle breeze blew the branches of the trees...making the lanterns floating by flicker. The courtyard was decorated with red and white...flowers made everything beautiful. As Lan stood, watching his happy guests, and the decorations his wife had worked on, he could scarcely believe it. The woman who was currently dancing with his younger sister, Lucy, had actually married him. The ring on her finger said it all.
It was illegal to feel this happy. To feel as much love running through his veins as he felt for Lisette. With a grin on his face, he walked over to her and cut in on the two girls. “May I?” He asked his younger sister who nodded with a huge grin and ran off towards her other sisters.
“Hullo.” He whispered to his bride, placing his hands on her waist and pulling her closer.
“Hi.” She whispered back, as the two moved about on the dance floor. Her eyes had such a twinkle in them that he couldn’t stop staring. She was his wife. Now he, Lan Dawkins, was the luckiest guy in the world.
