OTHER CHARACTER(S): Professor Robert Faulkner
{ About The CHARACTER }
x Matthieu Ludwig Shibuya"Matt"
CANNON OR ORIGINAL: Original YEAR: 6th AGE: 16 DOB: January 21st, 1960 RACE: British/French, Japanese GENDER: Male SEXUALITY: Heterosexual WAND: Unicorn hair, 11 inches, good for transfiguration BROOM: N/A (fear of heights) PET: A spectacled owl by the name of Allen
APPEARANCE: Matthieu's appearance is a curious one, in that he constantly tries to draw attention away from his face using flashy, colorful or dramatic clothing/costumes, due to a traumatic childhood incident in which he ran straight into a lamp-post in front of a girl he happened to be fond of and the rest of her posse - he remained "flat face" for the rest of the year. When attention is not drawn to his clothes or shoes, you'll notice that Matthieu does not have a particularly flat face, but a rather pleasant one. The shape of his face is fairly round, and his eyebrows fairly thick and dark, in contrast with his hair which he keeps constantly dyed, which gives many people the impression that he may be a metamorphmagus, although he usually wears his hair semi-spiked and slightly blonde. Matt is one of the lucky few to posess a pug sort-of nose, although it compliments the confident yet mischieveous grin you'll find on his face. His eyes are generally the center of attention when he holds a conversation with another being, as they are a hypnotizing shade of chocolate brown.
Matthieu stands at a mere 5'7, although he insists to the people around him that he is still growing, even if he's all too aware of the fact that he's already the tallest in his family. Having a terrible fear of heights and being uncomfortable about deep water, Matthieu never really gets the chance to exercise much - this is further encouraged by his love of playing the 'energetic' game of croquet any time he gets the chance. Even though he does not work to have the perfect body, Matt's shoulders are square and broad, his arms lean (from playing croquet) and not bad looking in the least. Unless you concentrate on his nose. FACE CLAIM: Blake Lewis
PERSONALITY DESCRIPTION: Matthieu's personality is an outgoing, fun one. He has a "try-everything-once" demeanor (as long as it doesn't involve heights or deep water), and is incredibly enthusiastic about almost anything. His protective mother and his constant need to break rules or just go against the grain has given him this "anything goes" attitude towards life, and even though he may not show it, Matt is very cautious when he comes to these situations, public humiliation being his number one nightmare. However, "confident" is the first word that comes to mind when thinking about him, and "fun" is second-only to it. Although Matt is friendly to most everyone, he can definitely turn on the meanness level if he feels like it, as he can have a sharp tongue that can get him into trouble. However, he is loyal to a fault and will stick up for any of his friends, even if it's to an adult.
Some negative aspects of his personality revolve around his complete lack of time management and adoration of clothing. Matt knows what he is good at, and is absolutely dedicated to those things (clothes and croquet). His love of clothing and sleep somewhat limits the amount of time he is able to spend at breakfast (see RP EXAMPLE for more info) and at first period, which is too bad for him, as he plays host to an absolutely enormous appetite and an inhuman metabolic rate. Matt also tends to over-dramatize things (possibly due to his love of Nancy Drew books) and exaggerates quite a bit. However, most people forgive his negative aspects because of his constant smiles and how he's fun to be with overall.
Unfortunately, because of his bouncy and enthusiastic nature, Matt can sometimes overlook the underlying feelings' of others, especially when talking in uncomfortable situations. He's not very good with heart-to-hearts, although he enjoys being the center of attention and people in general. Matt knows that he stands out from the rest, due to his choices in clothing and quirky hobbies, but also employs the full use of his assets, making sure he gets as much out of a situation as possible. Although it may seem slightly manipulative, it's simply in his nature to look out for himself and the people around him. BOGGART: Himself alone – he can’t stand to be by himself and is scared of being left behind PATRONUS: A cheetah - independent, confident, graceful and respected - basically everything Matt would like to be HOPES FOR THE FUTURE: Becoming a fashion designer, or a professional croquet player
SPECIAL ABILITIES: N/A BLOOD: Pure BIRTHPLACE: Born in London, with a British/French mother and a Japanese father MY FAMILY: - Amelie-Jeanne Prouvaire [38] - Keiji Shibuya [41] - Florence Prouvaire [14] WHATS IN THE PAST: Matthieu Ludwig Shibuya (or Matt, as he prefers to be known) has had a comfortable life, his parents being extremely well off. His father is Japanese and his over-bearing mother is French, which led to the curious names of both he and his younger sister, Amelie-Jeanne. Matt speaks fluent Japanese and English, but is also able to swear in French (and hold short, awkward conversations). Growing up, he’d been a precocious child, involving himself in art, music and even a little bit of math. Deciding they had a real genius on their hands, Matt’s parents spoiled him as much as they could, figuring it’d pay off when they needed a retirement home and Matt was some kind of high-end wanted bachelor. However, despite the gifts thrust upon him, they slowly and regretfully came to understand that all their boy really wanted to do was play croquet and buy clothes. Miffed, they began spending a little more time on their daughter, who they hoped would be more reality-friendly.
Matthieu's happy childhood was brought to a temporarily screeching halt when his parents divorced when he was 8 years old, and was constantly shunted back and forth between his parents. As a result of their protective and similarly dominant natures, his parents refused to let Matt or his sister have many friends or go out by themselves, which only made Matt more and more eager to break rules. His fear of being left alone stemmed from the constant tug-of-war between his father and mother, scared that one day they would give up and leave him by himself. His parents eventually got back together two years later, but the damage was done – Matt had turned into a fairly rebellious, mildly clingy child who ignored his parents at the best of times. So, when he turned 11 and finally received his letter from Hogwarts, Matt was simply relieved to escape from his overbearing family. But because of the sheltered life he’d had with his parents, he held reservations about being among so many kids his own age without that much adult supervision. Although the ride aboard the Hogwarts Express was a fairly nerve-wracking one (due to lack of knowing anyone as a first year and avoiding all his parents’ friends’ children), he discovered that the school was more than welcoming to whoever stepped through its doors. Eventually, Matt began to develop new relationships with people (platonic or otherwise) that he was never able to under his parents. Adoring the new feeling of freedom and sanctuary at the same time, Matt began to love Hogwarts as a second home. Except for the fact that no one else plays croquet. Which drives him crazy.
|{ OTHER INFO }
RP EXAMPLE: Matt lay in his dorm, unsure of the date, unsure of the time, as well as unsure of whether or not he wanted to get up and answer those tantalizing questions. After all, it was like he had class or anything, right? So, that pretty much guaranteed him a whole day of lying down and being unsure of things without any consequences anyways. Happy with this idea, the boy rolled over and buried himself under his covers and the comforting darkness that came with it. Perhaps, he slowly thought to himself, perhaps I’ll play croquet later today. He smiled at this brilliant idea and pictured himself playing on the Hogwarts Grounds with butterflies and birds flapping around him, cheering him on with their wings as set a new world record. Yeah, I think I’ll do that… he decided, until he realized that playing croquet would probably involve his getting up. Faced with such an obstacle, Matt turned over once again in defeat. Or I’ll just lie here.
Somehow, he could here a faint ticking noise that began to demand his attention – a faint ticking noise that began to grow into an earsplitting shriek of some sort. Stupid alarm… Matt mentally grumbled, stretching a hand out to turn it off, resulting in an overturned cup of water that landed with a loud “CCCCHINGGGG” noise. Sleepily furious, he used all the energy at his disposal to push himself out of bed and grab his wand. “Reparoooo…” he trailed off, yawning and fixing the glass as he sat up and rubbed his eyes. Why did I even set the alarm? he asked himself, grabbing a handy tissue to attempt to soak up the water on the floor, I mean… I only set it on school days… With this realization, Matt unsteadily stood up. “Crap.”
So it is a school day after all! Using the agility and strength of a waterlogged snail, Matt grabbed his clock to check the time, which he cheerily noted was only 5 minutes after breakfast. “Yes!” he beamed to himself, “I’ll only be 10 minutes late to class this time!” Happy with this new record, he slowly began sorting through the pile of clothes at the foot of his bed. Jeans, okay… Polo shirt, ew – no! …waistcoat? He sighed, faced with his next challenge of the morning. It was, he concluded, far far too early to start choosing what clothes to wear. Anyways, he wasn’t going to be that late for class… Biting his lip and checking the alarm clock, Matt retreated under the covers and promptly fell asleep again.
ANSWER: DOBBY! NOOOOO! OTHER: Nope.

Sorry! I completely missed that. *hits self* Admittedly, I was in a bit of a rush, considering I was going to the Olympics and had to get there two hours early for some reason. Don't get me started on security in China, hee.
