{ About The CHARACTER }
x Amos Christopher Diggory"Diggs"
CANNON OR ORIGINAL: Cannon YEAR: Seventh AGE: Eighteen DOB: 6th January RACE: Caucasian (British) GENDER: Male SEXUALITY: Heterosexual WAND: Ten and a half inches, cedar- pliable and exceptionally good for charms. BROOM: Cleasweep PET: An unremarkable light grey owl named Jenkins
APPEARANCE: The general opinion on Amos' looks is varied. Some people find him handsome, some don't. He's one of the people who doesn't think he's attractive, but he's never set much store by looks anyway. He has the typical Diggory dark hair and eyes, and a neat, but not severe, out-of-the-way haircut that allows his brown hair to fall onto and obscure his moderately-high forehead. This ensures that it stays well out of his eyes, because he knows from experience that it's inconvenient for everything from study to Quidditch. He goes clean-shaven and this accentuates the fact that he has a very strong and well-defined jaw, something his father claims is 'all Diggory' and is immensely proud of.
His cheekbones stand out very slightly from the rest of his face, and this, coupled with his rather prominent dark brow, casts a slight shadow over his eyes, which vary from being dark-brown to grey in colour. His ears don't protrude very much, or at all from his head, something the boy is very grateful he didn't inherit from his father, but from his mother. His features give him a serious, scholarly expression when he's not smiling, but when he does he looks younger than his years and extremely 'carefree', as he's been told. When he frowns, he's been informed that he looks intimidating, so he makes a habit of trying not to do so very often.
He stands at 188cm tall, or 6 feet and 2 inches, much taller than both his mother and father. He thinks the height is unremarkable, seeing as a number of his Seventh Grade peers are either as tall as, or taller than him, which irks him slightly because he enjoys being unique. His love of Quidditch has given him a very athletic physique with broad shoulders, though he does not appear muscular in the slightest, but rather streamlined and lean. He dresses in a combination of casual and semi-casual clothing most of the time, feeling it is much more comfortable than walking around the place in expensively tailored pieces. FACE CLAIM: Kevin Flamme
PERSONALITY DESCRIPTION: Amos is known around Hogwarts to be a serious, yet amiable young man. People often remark to him that they don't think he should have been sorted into Hufflepuff, but he thinks this statement is false, seeing as he displays many Hufflepuff traits. The first and foremost, and perhaps most noticeable of these traits is his loyalty. Amos displays intense, almost obsessive loyalty to those who have gained his trust, and he makes sure they know that he'd lay down his life to save a friend in a split second if necessary. This selfless attitude has gotten him into quite a few scrapes over the years on behalf of his friends, but since he always escapes relatively unscathed, he hasn't learnt his lesson. He comes across as being a little solemn at times, especially when he's thinking hard about something, but is for the most part very approachable.
He'd like to think of himself as being laid-back, and for the most part, it's true. The boy has a very relaxed approach to life, schoolwork, and friends (except for his little issue with loyalty), though it is surprising that he feels that way because his parents are insanely ambitious and want him to be the best that he possibly can. Laid-back attitude towards life aside, he's got a reputation for the capacity to be slightly hot-headed at times, especially towards people who are being rude or obnoxious, and sometimes his words get him into odd and undesirable situations. Most of the time, however, there's someone with him to help him keep a lid on his temper and so it's never been a serious issue. Strangely enough, when other people have confrontations and he's not directly involved, Amos, showing a little bit of a conflicting personality, tries to be non-judgmental and refrain from taking sides.
When it comes to girls, Amos isn't particularly needy, but he's seen by the female population of Hogwarts to be 'charming' and a bit of a catch, although he disagrees with this point of view. He's simply chivalrous and respectful, acting the way his parents brought him up to be. He'd much rather spend time with friends than devote his attention to a relationship, but if, by chance, he does get romantically involved with someone, his loyalty rule applies here as well. He's very stubborn about his opinions without seeming overly pushy, but he hasn't lost an argument or debate so far in his memory, and he certainly doesn't intend to any time soon. He's extremely competitive, but manages to pull it off in a playful manner, and whilst he hates losing he knows that it's good sportsmanship to not make a big deal out of it. He enjoys conversing with just about anyone so long as they don't actively try to irk him, and being friendly comes almost naturally to the boy so there's hardly any problems there.
Amos is, as said, a relaxed person, but one of his greatest passions is that for Quidditch. He's been playing since he was a young boy and as such has developed such an affinity for the sport that he doesn't go a week without going for at least one good fly. He manages not to talk about it obsessively, but it's easy to tell how much he loves Quidditch by the way his eyes light up whenever it's mentioned. Another thing he enjoys is reading, simply because it broadens his horizons, although between Quidditch and his social life he doesn't have nearly as much time for it as he'd like to. BOGGART: Having to give up something he dearly values. PATRONUS: Stallion HOPES FOR THE FUTURE: Amos has, to be blunt, no idea.
SPECIAL ABILITIES: N/A BLOOD: Pureblood BIRTHPLACE: Oxfordshire, England MY FAMILY: Thomas James Diggory (Father) Jane Diggory (nee. Walters) WHATS IN THE PAST: Amos was born into a world of privilege and wealth, being the son of two pureblood aristocrats. They, naturally, expected great things from him, but even as a little boy he seemed determined to disappoint them. Their first major disagreement was on the subject of Quidditch. His parents argued that it was not the kind of sport that they ever played when growing up, but Amos had grated at their nerves until they'd relented. Needless to say, even at an early age he was used to getting his way.
His parents were both absolutely ecstatic when his letter from Hogwarts arrived (though it was no less than expected, given the fact that they'd both attended when at school age), and immediately set about preparing their young son for his life at school. They were majorly disappointed when he was sorted into Hufflepuff (as his father had said, "What kind of sod gets sorted into that bloody house?"), but Amos was rather pleased with the sorting, since he'd been expecting and dreading Slytherin. His personality, though a little deviated from the run-of-the-mill Hufflepuff, fit in nicely with his peers and during the course of his first year he made several good friends.
In his fifth year he sustained quite a serious injury in Quidditch, breaking his ribs and right arm, but managed to escape relatively unscathed. The faded scar that he sports on his right arm reminds him of the accident, however. He doesn't mind over-much, not seeing the scar as a physical flaw, but rather a testament to his devotion to the sport. He scored between Exceeds Expectations and Outstandings all the way through his OWLs, and this pleased his parents so much that they decided to stop nagging him about his future.

RP EXAMPLE: Amos was up early. Today he'd found the rare opportunity to be reading, and he wasn't intending to waste it by doing something as trivial as sleeping. He flipped through the pages with a quick, practiced hand, completely absorbed in the words that were printed on them. It was days like these that reminded him why people thought of him as being serious and very un-Hufflepuff-like. He didn't dwell on the particular thought for very long, however, seeing as he was still reading and he found it easier to concentrate on one thing at a time.
When he'd finally finished the book, he closed the cover and looked up, surprised to realize that the sun was up fully now and that his dorm-mates were stirring in their beds. Smiling, he rolled out of bed and got dressed in the new set of school robes his parents had insisted on, before walking down to the common room and reading the bulletin that was posted there. The news that a Quidditch match was scheduled soon brought a grin to his face, and light-heartedly, he made his way to breakfast.
The weather was terrible, he noted, as he looked out a few windows on his way down. A mix of sleet and snow was falling, and the ground looked sludgy from where he was. Definitely not the conditions that the outdoors-oriented Hufflepuff enjoyed, to say the least. He realized that he'd stopped his movements and had been staring at the grey, foggy sky for at least a few minutes, and hastened to get to the Great Hall in time to eat. He managed to ravenously shovel down a few mouthfuls, before the meals vanished. It served him right, really, for being so easily distracted. With a heavy heart and empty stomach, Diggory went to class. ANSWER: REMUS & TONKS...and the entire book. OTHER: He's got a scar on his right forearm from a Quidditch accident in Fifth Year.
