{ About The CHARACTER }
x Gloria Nadine MacAvoy
CANNON OR ORIGINAL: Original YEAR: 6th AGE: 16 DOB: October 31st, 1961 RACE: Caucasian GENDER: Female SEXUALITY: heterosexual WAND: Rosewood, 12 ½ inches, essence of Unicorn Hair BROOM: none PET: Calico cat named Reena
APPEARANCE: Gloria basically took after her mother in every aspect- her hair is thick and almost black- though it looks brown when it’s in the sunlight. She has never dyed it, and leaves it in its natural loose curls. She is grateful for the fact that it doesn’t get frizzy unless it is extremely humid outside which, luckily, is fairly rare when she is at school. Her eyes match her darker coloring, being a dark, warm chocolate color.
She stands at a rather tall 5’10”, one of the few physical aspects she inherited from her father. Despite this, she isn’t awkward or unbalanced in the least. Her body is very well proportioned, and she is slim and fit due to her dancing hobby. This also contributes to her flexibility- she can touch her toes, and then some.
Despite all of this, she does not find herself particularly attractive- despite her oval face, full lips, and clear complexion, she does not usually play this up. She is almost always dressed casually and comfortably, and even when she wears flattering clothing, all compliments she gets are shaken off as people just humoring her. She cannot possibly comprehend it when a boy asks her on a date, or falls for her, or even says they find her attractive.
FACE CLAIM: Norah Jones
PERSONALITY DESCRIPTION: Gloria is shy and quiet almost to the point of being reclusive- she would much rather stay upstairs in her dorm and write in one of her ever-present notebooks. She is a word nerd- all of her essays for classes are always top notch, simply because the way she looks at things. That being said, other than her essays, she is utterly indifferent about school, knowing that her destiny lies beyond school and whatever grades she manages to get.
That being said, Gloria has a bitingly sarcastic side when she does end up talking to anyone. She is slow to befriend, often simply observing people’s foibles and pet peeves before speaking, but once you gain her trust it is given without question. This can get her into trouble when she happens to befriend a less then trustworthy person. Is also is a hamper on her romantic life, because by the time she grows to trust someone enough to let them in on her life, they have already put her in the friend zone. This, of course, does nothing to help her already low self esteem.
Her low self esteem is probably her worst trait- other than that she is a fairly nice person, not completely adverse to a little bit of troublemaking or good old gossip. But she is convinced that boys don’t notice her in the slightest, and when she has a crush on someone she believes that they would never look twice at her.
BOGGART: Her standing naked in front of a lot of people PATRONUS: Clouded Leopard HOPES FOR THE FUTURE: Becoming a writer for the daily prophet, maybe a family.
SPECIAL ABILITIES: She’s a writer, A very good one. BLOOD: Muggleborn BIRTHPLACE: A hospital near Cambridge University MY FAMILY: Deegan MacAvoy (father) Carlotta Lespigana (mother) WHATS IN THE PAST: Carlotta was the daughter of a fairly normal Spanish family- she went to school and grew up, never imagining there was anything more then what she had- her family and her neighbors, her school friends and her three-floor house. But her life was destined to change when she got accepted as an English major at Cambridge college- destined to change because that was where she met Deegan MacAvoy.
Deegan was a fast-moving, life loving guy who could catch the attention of everyone in the room simply by walking in. So it was only a matter of time before he found the favor of the small town Spanish girl that was Carlotta. Throughout the four years, Deegan was infatuated with her, and she with him. Until the fateful day, their Senior year of college, when they found out that Carlotta was pregnant. Instead of bringing them closer together, it drew them apart. The pregnancy was not easy. Carlotta suffered intense mood swings and prayed and prayed that the baby would just go away, while also clinging to it as proof that Deegan would come back to her, that they would be as they had been.
But after graduation, Deegan disappeared off the face of the Earth- the mother of his child moved to a small suburb of London and never told her mother about her child, soon found to be a daughter. When the doctor asked who the little bundle’s father was, Carlotta said “MacAvoy. Her name is Gloria MacAvoy.”
Gloria’s childhood was never easy- Her mother got a job as an English teacher, but they were always slightly hard-pressed for money. So when a letter came from a boarding school in Scotland saying that she had a full scholarship, both her and her mother burst into happy tears. Maybe Gloria would finally get a chance to become something her mother could never be- and that was true. The little girl was visited by the headmaster of this school, who explained that she was a witch and could do magic.
Gloria left and never looked back- though she hasn’t changed much.
|{ OTHER INFO }
RP EXAMPLE: Gloria let out a little huff and Julian's words. Skinny dipping? Ha. Like anybody would want to see her naked anyways. Her eyes were fixed down at her sand-covered feet. After a few seconds she looked up at Julian, realizing only now that she was only about three or four inches shorter then him- something she hadn't noticed before because she was usually too busy focusing on the reasons she was mad at him. That or they were sitting down. This glance upward was also just in time for her to catch his wry smile as he spoke.
Her lips pulled up into a similar expression before she responded. "Well, right now the only thing the brain can come up with is you wanting to see me nude, since it's come up twice tonight." This was delivered in the driest tone she could muster, though the sarcastic effect was ruined by the slightly nervous giggle she was unable to repress. "And Julian Cartwright being touched by the beauty of an ocean sunset? Who would have known?" Gloria trailed off into silence for a little while, The pair's constant movement had brought them right up to the water's edge where the waves lapped at their toes.
The Spanish girl wriggled her toes in the foam before looking around the beach. There were a few other couples- Roman couples, since she didn't recognize any faces- who seemed to be watching the romantic sunset and taking the opportunity of the moment to snog each other senseless. Gloria flushed, embarrassed at what she felt was an intrusion on the others' privacy- not to mention the sudden and unexplained urge to do the same thing. Which was so unlike her that she couldn't stand still for mortification. She hurriedly removed herself from her spot only about two feet from Julian into the calf-deep water not too far ahead.
She looked up into the sunset, letting the waves pull the sand out from underneath her feet. The repetitive feeling calmed her slightly- or enough to be able to look towards Julian again. She turned her back to the sun and met his eyes. Her lips quirked. "This water" she stated, "Is a little bit cold." What a dull thing to say. She mentally slapped herself and spoke again. "Have you done anything exiting in Rome? Found a sweet little Italian paramour? Eaten McDonalds?" Gloria smiled widely. "Order of desirability obviously growing greater as the list goes on." ANSWER:I can’t believe she killed Remus and Tonks! OTHER:
