|{ About The MEMBER } NAME: Lindsey AGE: 17 TIME ZONE: central HOW OFTEN WILL YOU BE ON?: as much as I can considering this is my senior year. WHERE DID YOU FIND US?: I was on prongs.... I don't exactly remember where I found that, it was awhile ago. WHERE CAN WE REACH YOU?: email, MSN, etc. OTHER CHARACTER(S): Matt, Liesl, Andromeda, Deirdre
{ About The CHARACTER }
x Landon Johnathan Dawkins"Lan"
CANNON OR ORIGINAL: Original YEAR: 6th AGE: 16 DOB: April 7, 1961 RACE: Human GENDER: Male SEXUALITY: heterosexual WAND: 13” Willow, dragon heart string BROOM: Comet Chaser 100 PET: A brown owl named Thor
APPEARANCE: Lan is a tall young man, standing at 6'3. He has shaggy brown hair that he mostly wears long. While he will break down and get a haircut when the hair gets too long, he's usually too lazy to make the effort. Lan has dark, chocolate brown eyes and a very angled face. All of Lan's features are distinct and sharp, giving him a slightly refined look. He has a nice smile, but he usually just smirks and he can mostly be seen wearing a withdrawn expression. Lan is fit, being a quidditch player, but he's not overly muscled. He still has that "skinny boy" look, and though that used to bother him, he doesn't mind anymore.
Lan's style is very laid back and unassuming. He mostly prefers to wear a t-shirt, jeans, and normal shoes or Converses. He'll wear a buttoned up shirt every now and then, but he usually sticks with t-shirts. Lan doesn't like to put too much time in on his appearance, so he usually has that dressed down look about him. Though he doesn't put much effort into his appearance, Lan doesn't look grungy or ragged. He at least combs his hair everyday, and his clothes, though basic, are well made clothes that look nice.
FACE CLAIM: Ashton Kutcher
PERSONALITY DESCRIPTION: Lan's personality is extremely laid back. He can be a bit of a pessimistic most of the time, but he's lately been trying to be more optimistic. Normally, Lan likes to just blend in and not be noticeable, since he really doesn't enjoy big crowds. He's not extremely talkative, unless he's around people he's comfortable with. However, when other people enter the conversation, Lan usually becomes quiet and reserved. Because of his quiet personality, some people think him aloof. Whenever he's around people he doesn't know he especially can seem stuck up, but he's really not. However, people sometimes make the mistake of thinking he is and Lan doesn't always feel like spending time convincing them the opposite.
Lan has a witty sense of humor, and can sometimes come off as biting on certain occasions. If people aren't used to that sort of humor, they tend to think that he can be a bit nasty. Lan's also very cunning, finding all sorts of ways around rules and regulations and not getting caught. When it comes to friends and family, though, Lan can be extremely sweet and protective, you just have to be on his good side. Lan can also be very mischievous and loves causing a bit of trouble or pulling a small prank. At times he can act like a kid with his love of pranks and annoying people, especially his sisters. Though Lan also has a habit of withdrawing in himself for a few days and not being extremely social even to his families. He also doesn't care as much about school as he could, but he keeps his grades where they need to be. BOGGART: Himself as a stereotypical Slytherin, causing pain to his family. PATRONUS: A fox, because he's sly and quiet. HOPES FOR THE FUTURE: Lan hopes to become an Auror.
SPECIAL ABILITIES: He's extremely good at quidditch, but other than that no. BLOOD: Pure BIRTHPLACE: His family lives right outside of London, but Lan was born in London. MY FAMILY: Father: Richard Johnathan Dawkins III Mother: Margret Louise Amherst Dawkins Sisters: Leslee Ann Dawkins Benson Liesl Tabatha Dawkins Laurel Olivia Dawkins Lucinda Mariana Dawkins Brother-in-law: Edward Nicholas Benson WHATS IN THE PAST:Lan's mother, Meg, was born in Germany in 1936. Her family is one of the most important and influential wizarding families in Germany. Though Wilhelm Amherst was a wealthy and important official, he didn't agree with some of the goings on with Nazi Germany. Because of this he secretly worked for the resistance movement, as did his wife Brigitta. Finally it became too dangerous and Wilhelm moved his family to England. Since neither Wilhelm nor Brigitta wanted their children to attend Durmstrang, Meg and her younger brother Franz both attended Hogwarts. Brigitta was always a controlling woman, and could be rather nasty. However, to her own family she was very loving, though still controlling. Meg was very popular at school, though toward the end of her school career she became a little wild in trying to stop her mother from controlling her. Thankfully she had good friends and she graduated with high marks.
Lan's father, Richard, was born in London, England in 1934. The Dawkins family is one of the oldest and most influential in England. They are descended from Helga Hufflepuff, and because of this they are more humble about their origins than some pure-blood families. Richard is the oldest of four children and led a normal life. His mother, Darlene, worked as a nurse during WWII and his father, John, fought with a special wizarding section of the Army. Richard went to Hogwarts right as the war was ending and as a young boy always felt a little cheated that he didn't get to join in on the fighting. At Hogwarts Richard was one of the more popular boys and won many people over by his boyish charm. He graduated with high NEWT scores, went on to get his healing training and is now an important healer.
Richard and Meg met the summer before her seventh year at Hogwarts. There was immediate attraction and they started dating soon after meeting. Right before Meg graduated from Hogwarts, Richard asked her to marry him. She soon agreed, though changed her mind a month later and said she was too young. Then, another month later she changed her mind after getting sound advice from her mother. The two were married and a year later had Leslee. Since Meg wanted to become a healer, she decided to juggle being a mother and getting her training. After much work she finally became a healer and started her job. Five years after Leslee, Lan and Liesl were born. Then Laurel was born six years after them, and Lucy five years after Laurel.
Lan had a very easy childhood and spent most of the time roaming around and playing with his sisters. He wasn't half as friendly as Liesl, though, and he liked to keep to himself more than the other kids. When Lan was little he hardly spoke and this worried Richard and Meg. However, the doctor told them that Lan didn't have a problem, he was just quiet. Because of his dislike of talking, Liesl began translating for him, and the young boy and his interpreter were hardly ever seen apart. Lan's always been extremely close with Liesl and they balance each other out well. When Laurel was born, she showed signs of being like Lan, and there's always been a special connection between the two, since they understand each other.
When Lan was eleven, he got his Hogwarts letter and was shipped off with Liesl. He was sorted into another house than Liesl and it was the first time they had really been apart. Because of the loss of the constant companionship of Liesl, Lan become more introverted than he had been originally, usually preferring to keep to himself in the less used places on the Hogwarts grounds. He still is a loner to this day, but he does have friends.
During his first year, Lucy was born. This confused Lan's life just a bit, since when he went home for holidays the whole dynamic of the house had changed. Up until then Liesl had really been the only loud and rambunctious Dawkins child, but she couldn't hold a candle to Lucy. At first this made Lan a bit moody, but he soon got used to his baby sister and learned to love her as much as the rest of his sisters.
This past summer, Lan's girlfriend of three years died of cancer. Because of this he had become more introverted than usual and had even shut Liesl out in a way. Though his twin is the one he trusts the most, there are just some things he can't talk about to anyone at the moment. His grades are starting to suffer as a result of his total lack of caring and his parents are beginning to realize that the only thing that will work with their son is a firm talking to. Still, Lan's having to deal with a lot of stuff and he's beginning to be sick of it.

RP EXAMPLE: ((this is using Matt's, but I like it so I'm using it.))
Matt sat on his bed, absorbed in a book he had found in his father's library. It was a thick, old book that was written by a German author, so Matt was having to use all of his concentration to grasp the story. However, he had always enjoyed a challenge and he was becoming engrossed in the story. Downstairs, he heard a door slam and a voice calling out his name. “Reading, Mum!” He yelled back to his mother. He heard an 'OK' come from downstairs and he went back to his book.
As he was finishing up a particularly interesting chapter, he heard two sets of legs come stampeding up the stairs. His two younger siblings appeared at the door, Ben holding Angelle's hand. The younger boy told Matt that it was almost time for supper. Nodding, Matt looked back down at his book, hoping to at least finish up the chapter. Instead, Angelle crawled on his bed and sat right in front of him, staring at his face.
Sighing, Matt put the book down and looked back at Angelle. “I'm guessing this means ya want me to come downstairs with ya?” He asked, a slightly annoyed look on his face. The little blond shook her head, pointing out the window instead. “Twampawine!” She stated, nodding emphatically.
Matt put his head to one side and gave his sister a confused look. He ran the word over in his mind a couple of times before he realized that Angelle was saying 'trampoline'. Shutting his book and getting off of his bed, he swung his sister into his arms and headed downstairs. “OK, Angel. But I'm not jumping with ya on my back this time.” He said, giving his sister a serious look. Angelle just nodded and clapped her hands, letting out a giggle. Matt grinned back at her and swung her up on his shoulders. The book could just wait until later.

Yikes, I think Alex was right about the Gryffindor. I do see him that way, but then again, he's been in Slytherin forever. I hardly ever do this, but you can choose.edit: Slytherin it is then!

I agree with Lisette, I can see him as either one. I still can't help but see him as a Slytherin. I'm going to go with Slytherin since that's what you prefer.

Well, how could we say that Lan's not an ordinary Slytherin if he's not a Slytherin?
