So.... I was thinking about the Dawkins parents. I hadn't ever really said too much about Meg and Richard Dawkins, so I thought I'd make a one-shot about their engagement. Hope you like!
Young Richard Dawkins
Young Meg Amherst (Dawkins)
“Meg! Meg, come on. Be reasonable. I said I was sorry.” A dark, curly haired youth called out, catching up with the girl he was calling.
“Don’t you tell me what to do, Richard Dawkins. My mother has been taking care of that since I was born, and I certainly don’t need you telling me what to do.” Meg, a curly red-headed girl , rounded on the dark haired boy, an angry look on her face. However, she didn’t look completely genuine about her anger.
“Meg. Please. I’m sorry. I love your hair, I really do. I think you look gorgeous with red hair.” Richard took a few steps closer to Meg, who looked a little happier, but that quickly disappeared.
“No you don’t. You’re trying to be all charming. Well, sir. This is one girl that act won’t work on!” She promptly spun around and walked off again, opening the door to the astronomy tower. Richard thought it was rather strange for his girlfriend to retreat to the tower if she really wanted to get away from him.
“It got me a date with you, didn’t it?” He smirked and came up behind Meg, who crossed her arms and gave a ‘humph’ in return. Sighing, Richard walked past Meg and sat on the bench that was by the edge of the tower. He and Meg just stood there looking at each other, until Meg gave an exasperated sigh and turned around.
Meg Amherst was part of the richest and most well known wizarding families in Germany. She and her family had moved to England when she was young, but that didn’t mean that they lost their status. Meg’s mother was a very proud, demanding women and she had always controlled every aspect of her daughter’s life. Richard Dawkins was also part of an extremely well to do wizarding family, though his mother and father both were laid back and let their son lead his life mostly the way he chose. Richard’s carefree nature was what had attracted Meg to him in the first place, not to mention that he was charming. Richard thought that Meg was an interesting girl and beautiful to go with it.
They had begun dating a year ago, and tonight Meg had decided to take her first step of rebellion and had died her blonde hair red. This had surprised Richard, who loved her hair, and he had not reacted in the way Meg had planned. Since Meg was easily set off, she had blown up at her boyfriend and stalked off.
Now Meg stood facing the door and Richard sat on the bench, patiently waiting for Meg to turn back around. Finally she did, though her countenance was just as stormy. “You know. I happen to like my hair. I think you could have reacted a little more positively.” She stated, playing with a strand of her now red hair.
Sighing, Richard ruffled his dark hair and stood up. “Look, I told you. If you would just get it through your stubborn little German head.” He was annoyed now.
This made Meg flare up and she put her hands on her hips. “Richard Dawkins! How dare you!” She stated, though her lips twitched. Richard saw this and he inched toward his girlfriend, who in turn backed away. “Richard, don’t come any closer. I’m mad at you. Richard, Richie!” She almost laughed as Richard grabbed her by the waist and started tickling her.
“You’re not mad. You’re just acting.” He stated, laughing himself as he held the wriggling Meg in his arms. Finally, Meg broke away and put her hand on her hips again.
“I am too mad!” She stated, frowning again. “In fact, I might not speak to you again, Richard Dawkins.” She flipped her hair and turned to go, when Richard said something that made her stop.
“Will you marry me?” He asked, his brown eyes showing that he was genuine in his question. Meg slowly turned around and stared at him. She opened her mouth a few times before answering.
“No! I’m….. I’m mad at you. And we’re only seventeen, and…” She was cut off by Richard saying her name again and she looked away to collect her thoughts. She then walked toward him, her step tentative. Finally, she reached Richard and suddenly grabbed the front of his shirt and kissed him. “Yes.” She answered and made to walk away.
Before she could go anywhere Richard grabbed her hand and pulled her back. He cupped her face in his hands and kissed her soundly and enthusiastically on the mouth. As they broke the kiss, Meg suddenly smiled and hugged him, snuggling her face into his school uniform shirt.
Five months later, the huge wedding took place. Everyone in the wizarding high society was invited, though Meg and Richard hardly noticed anyone but each other and their close friends and family. Meg looked a vision in her white wedding gown, and Richard couldn’t stop grinning his charming grin. As the new couple danced their first dance as Mr. and Mrs. Richard Dawkins III, Meg looked up into her husband’s eyes and smiled.
“Is it possible for one to be so happy?” She asked him quietly after Richard gave her a kiss.
Smiling and holding his wife close to him, Richard nodded. “Yes. And from now on let’s make it our business to be happy, Mrs. Dawkins.” He whispered in her ear.

All I want is you, would you be my bride? Take my by the hand and stand by my side. All I want is you, would you stay with me? Hold me in your arms and sway me like a sea.
