Cyan Geraldine was in a foul disposition. There were a lot of things the typically well mannered Hufflepuff could handle and take in stride, but Muggle bashing was not amongst the list of tolerable things- especially when the bashing and insults were directed at his family. Leave it to some no account, pure-blooded Slytherin to start harassing Muggle borns for no reason. That had always been something Cyan had never stood back and tolerated, being Muggle born himself, so needless to say he had stepped in to defend the harassee without a second thought. Unfortunately this led to the comments being turned on him and his family, and that was all it took for Cyan's happy nature to flip upside down.
Cyan hadn't even wasted time pulling his wand to threaten the Slytherin with hexes or curses. He'd instead immediately went for the old fashioned Muggle approach. He'd tackled the other boy about the waist, catching him off guard, and dropped them both to the floor without a hint of resistance to cushion the fall. Once the others' wand was out of his hand and out of his reach, Cyan began delivering blows- and quickly received them in return. The brawl lasted all of five minutes maybe, and in that short amount of time it had attracted a large circle of students, and two Professors. Naturally the authoritative figures broke up the fight and separated the two boys, then escorted the both of them to their Heads of House.
So now, not only was the Hufflepuff boy sporting a bruise to the left side of his jaw and a right black eye- not to mention bloodied knuckles, all of which he refused treatment for- now he had a weeks' worth of detention to serve as well. So to say Cyan was in a bad mood was a drastic understatement, which was why he had gone out onto the grounds, to get away from everyone long enough to cool down and get his head back on straight. The last thing he needed was to get into another fight, especially with someone who was just being concerned for his well being. A heavy sigh left the boy's lips and he shook his head slowly before hanging it. Really, he needed to learn to just walk away sometimes. It'd save him a hell of a lot of trouble, not to mention save him from a lot of unattractive and unnecessary bruises...

Lexy Perret's day had been a perfectly normal day. So normal in fact, it had been extremely boring. Absolutely nothing out of the ordinary had happened and the day seemed to drag on and on. Classes had gone through uneventful, and her studying session with Dessy, while of course nice because she got to see her friend, was well, dull. So the blonde Hufflepuff had left the castle to go on a walk around the grounds for a break. So she had changed out of her school uniform into blue jeans and a thick sweater. She walked around outside for a bit. Lexy, who loved walking around Hogwarts ground, began to find that a bit boring. She was walking towards the lake when she saw a familiar back of head. She smiled. She hadn't really talked to Cyan in a few weeks. It would be nice to talk to him for a bit. She loved hearing about his family. Maybe he'd have a new story about Alruna. She had always wanted a younger sister. (Well a sibling in general.) She approached him quietly. "Hey Cy," she said in a cheery voice before she saw his face. She gasped and rushed over to him. He had a bruise on the side of his face and a black eye. "Oh Cy," she said shaking her head. Then she saw the knuckles and grabbed his hand to get a better look at it. She sighed again and looked up at the Hufflepuff. "What happened?" she asked him. It was obvious he had gotten in a fight. She wasn't sure why though. Someone had probably been insulting a friend or his family. Most likely his family. [[Sorry it's so short. I haven't rped Lex in ages... I'll get back in the swing soon ]]

Out of all the seven years spent at Hogwarts, there were certain sights and sounds that Cyan had learned to recognize. Voices, in particular, were one of the various sounds. The voice that addressed him now was one he had spent all of his years learning and filing away, so it was only natural for him to look up. Lexy had been one of Cyan's closest friends for as far back as he could remember. She was always interested in the things he had to say, and she always had a smile ready for him, whatever the occasion may be. Normally, the sight of the blond Hufflepuff would make him feel better no matter what, but today was not a normal day to say the very least.
Not to mention that the wounds marring his features were probably going to earn him a good scolding (or at least a mild talking to...) once Lexy stopped fussing and fretting over how he currently appeared. Oh how he wasn't looking forward to that. Despite himself and his current mood and situation, Cyan managed a sheepish smile for his fellow Hufflepuff. "'Lo, Lexy." he gave a half hearted wave in her direction to accompany his words, ignoring her concern for him quite obviously. "Quite the day for me today," his expression only grew more sheepish as he continued to avoid and ignore the subject lingering in the air between them. "How's your day been thus far? Good I hope- and better then mine..." He nearly frowned with the last bit added on to his sentence, but managed to hold his sheepish smile just for her. Oh he was so in for it...

Lexy could not be distracted that easily. Not when the very obvious marks on his face and hands were there. She looked up at him and waited for an answer, but only managed to receive Cyan quite blatantly ignoring her question. “I’m sure it was better then yours,” she said sighing again. His hand was still in hers and she examined it again. “You did an awful number on your knuckles,” she told him concern and slight acceptance in her tone. This wasn’t the first time this had happened obviously, and it would be far too optimistic to hope it would be the last.
She looked up at the fellow Hufflepuff. He had managed to keep a small smile on his face, though it looked forced. She frowned at him, but it was a forced frown. His sheepish grin made him look like a child about to be scolded for doing something he knew was wrong at the time. She was still concerned at this time, but the scolding would come soon. Once she found out what happened and how much he could have ignored whoever he had fought with. And after she made sure he was okay of course. “Now Cy,” she said using her ‘mother voice’ as a few of the Hufflepuff guys in her year called it, Cy included. “Tell me what happened. Please?”

Ah there it was, the all too familiar 'Mum voice'. The far too familiar tone caused Cyan to sigh, and he easily slipped his hand away and tucked both appendages into the pockets of his trousers. Once this was accomplished, he turned his head so that the bruised side was no longer visible to the blond, then shrugged his shoulders as if the entire situation was no big deal. "Just some bigot Slytherin picking on Muggleborns, Lex." another shrug, "Its no big deal. I handled it, and if you think I look bad, you should see the git who was on the other end of my knuckles." The sheepish grin he had tried so hard to keep on his face had faded away by this point. Now, his expression was brooding and annoyed- right back to where it was before the other Hufflepuff had made an appearance.
"I suppose I could've walked away, as I know that's what you're going to say to me, but the arse started in on my family, and well," he paused here, taking the time to run a hand through his hair and sigh heavily before continuing, "We all know how lightly I take to my family being talked negatively about...So please," he turned his head back to look at Lexy once again, his expression still fairly dark, but not hateful or menacing in any way, "No lectures, Lexy. Not right now."
((Homan...so short...))

Of course it was. She wasn’t surprised. In fact she’d have been more surprised if it hadn’t been. He pulled his hand away and stuck it in his pocket and he turned so she couldn’t see the bruise. He looked perfectly normal now, other then brooding look on his face. Really, it could have been much worse. She hated what their world was becoming. No, what it had already become. The prejudices had been there forever of course, but people were much more out spoken and took more radical actions now that You-Know-Who was rising. She sighed. She hated that Cyan had fought with the Slytherin. She hated it more that he had too.
She paused choosing her words carefully. She wanted to comfort him, yet she wouldn’t just say what he wanted to hear either. “You could have walked away,” she said slowly. “I know you couldn’t though Cy. You can’t walk away every time.” She hated violence, absolutely hated it, but sometimes it was necessary if you didn’t want the other side to walk all over you. Not that it should be the answer to everything. There was no need to stoop down to their level, but she didn’t think that’s what Cy was doing.“So no lectures. Not right now anyways.”
It was awful that out of the two of them people thought Cy should be the one to be ashamed of his family or wish for a new one. His family was perfect. He had two parents who loved him and cared for him and an adorable younger sister. Lexy had only met them a few times at the train station, but she felt like she knew them. Cyan enjoyed talking about his family, and Lexy adored listening. She had always longed for a family like that. Instead she had parents who very rarely paid her little attention at all. Her father ignored her existence except the occasional lecture and her mother was always gone on work and very rarely spent time with Lexy except the occasional guilt vacation when Lexy went with her mother to where ever she was working. Even then they didn’t spend a lot of time together. She slumped to the ground and sat down. She crossed her legs and leaned back resting on her hands. She tugged at Cyan’s shirt to pull him down to join her. “I’m sorry they do this to you,” she whispered very sincerely looking up at him as if it were somehow partially her fault. After a brief pause she shook her head very suddenly. “Forget about those jerks," she told him. "Tell me a story?” she asked. “About your family I mean, to distract you. If you think it would help that is. Don't if you don't want to." She really hoped she was helping rather then hurting. She couldn't imagine how hard this must be for him.
