I have yet to find a name for this story...so ya, here's chapter one of the story with no name...
Jamie Potter sat in one of the blue padded chairs provided by the Hospital Wing. The walls were the same shade of blue and she found it quite dull. Whoever picked the color was not the brightest person in the world. She still couldn’t believe that her best friend and her sister-in-law, Lily Potter, was in labor at this very moment. She had other things on her mind, though. At that moment she stared at her problem.
Sirius Black. Snogging his girlfriend while his best friend, and her brother, was about to be a father. She had gotten used to him snogging girls in public. But in a hospital? It was absurd! You’re just mad because you’re not the one snogging his brains out! Said an inner voice. She shook her head at the thought and went back to watching their…displays of affection.
Jamie then saw what’s-her-face move the kisses from his mouth to his neck. She rolled her eyes and watched the girl. That girl must have been desperate because she was acting like snogging was a thing she hadn’t done for a while. She looked back up to Sirius and saw that he was staring at her. Her eyes widened slightly. Did he just wink at her? Before she could figure out what he did his “significant other” started kissing his mouth again. Jamie rolled her eyes again. This was just sick, she had to get away.
Just then a guy approached Jamie. She looked up at him. His hair was kind of dirt brown. His eyes were also brown, but darker, like they were full of something. Something she couldn’t make out. “Do you want to get some tea with me? I saw that your friend just came in and is going to be a mother. Tea is an excellent way to relieve stress.” Jamie studied him again. Stress wasn’t the only thing he wanted to relieve, but it couldn’t hurt anything just to get a drink.
Jamie nodded and got up. She was surprised when he grabbed her hand. She took a look back at Sirius and he was staring at her again. She smiled and winked at him. He also smiled. This was his way of knowing that it would be alright. At that he went back to snogging his girlfriend again.
Meanwhile Jamie and Rodney, the healer, were in the cafeteria making some tea. He took some time to fix his. He was acting as if he did anything wrong that his tea would be ruined. They finally took a seat. They started with small talk which led into his droning. “Did you know that I have saved over a hundred lives? Including this American girl who…” She didn’t hear anymore than that. She kind of blocked him out as Sirius entered the cafeteria.
Rodney still rambled on as she gave Sirius a look. Please save me! She mouthed. Rodney who was too caught up in telling his stories about how many lives he saved didn’t notice that Jamie was mouthing anything. Sirius smirked at her and seemed to be thinking it over. Her worries subsided as he headed towards their table.
“Hey guys!” He said in the most interrupting way he could think of. That meant smacking Rodney on the back and loudly pulling a chair back to sit in. Jamie forced herself to hide the smile that crawled onto her face. Sirius always did know how to make an entrance. Rodney made a face of pure discomfort as soon as he got interrupted from his story.
“Hello,” Rodney forced himself to say as he put his hand out “I’m Rodney.” Sirius smirked as Rodney put out his hand. If Jamie had asked for help that meant that this guy was probably going on about himself and a total jerk. Sirius had been working out for a while and squeezed Rodney’s hand to the point where Jamie could actually hear Rodney’s knuckles pop. Jamie almost laughs as she saw Rodney wince.
“I’m Sirius Black. Jamie’s best friend and protector. You do anything that you shouldn’t be doing and I’ll kick your ass…just kidding!” Sirius said, but he said it in a tone that was implying that he wasn’t kidding in the least bit.
Her mood was instantly ruined when Sirius’s girlfriend came into the room. Not only could Jamie not stand her, but Jamie could not stand to be in the same species as her. Sirius’s eyes seemed to brighten at her arrival. “Siri? I’m really tired, so I’m heading home for tonight.” She said as she kissed Sirius. This annoyed Jamie to a boiling point. Sirius nodded and gave her one last ten second snog fest which almost made Jamie barf.
That feeling was soon forgotten when a nurse came in “Jamie Potter! There are some complications, and I need you to come with me!” Jamie didn’t wait even for half a second to get up. She grabbed Sirius and all three of them started running to the maternity ward. Jamie felt a thousand things running through her head. As they reached the waiting room they figured out that the healer didn’t actually want them in the same room with Lily and James.
Jamie started to worry and buried her face in Sirius’s chest. He was surprised when she did so but instinctively put his arms around her. Suddenly it felt as if they were alone. Jamie and Sirius sensed this feeling as pulled her face away from his chest and looked up at him. She started to stand on her tip toes to kiss him. Then-
“Jamie Potter? Sirius Black?” a nurse called and they both stepped forward. Jamie didn’t like the strange face the nurse had on. It was bad news she had come to tell them. Jamie and Sirius exchanged glances of worry. “Lily has a Amniotic Band. If it attaches to the baby, he could be born with some defects. If it attaches to the umbilical cord, he could die…But she could also die in the process.” Jamie’s eyes started to water. Lily would be so miserable if the first time she was ever pregnant didn’t work out. And James might lose his wife. It was too much for Jamie to bear.
Jamie turned to Sirius and he knew that she was about to cry. Again, he wrapped his arms around her and rubbed her back. “Are you two...together?” The nurse couldn’t help but ask. They quickly stepped away from each other. Jamie wiped the tears from her face as they both muttered “no” in some form or fashion. For Jamie it was “Are you kidding me?” For Sirius it was a nervous laugh.
“That must be a no. Sorry if I implied anything I shouldn’t.” The nurse walked away in silence thinking that Jamie and Sirius should be together. She could tell that they were perfect for each other. So could everyone else. But they both were stubborn and weren’t going to admit this fact.
Sirius led Jamie over to a different waiting area. The theme was green, and it too, made Jamie feel uncomfortable. They tried to put cheery colors in the hospital. The building of death. She sat down and instantly burst into tears. Without hesitating Sirius put his arm around her and brought her to him. Jamie didn’t push him away like she normally would anyone else, but instead she welcomed it and it seemed that him holding her made her cry harder.
Sirius stroked Jamie’s hair gently while muttering some comforting words. He stopped suddenly. Jamie looked around and saw her brother “James!” they both shouted as they ran over to him. James’s eyes were red from, what Jamie could tell, was crying. He wasn’t taking this too well. “What happened?”
James sighed as he wiped an area under his eyes. He opened his mouth and the words that came out almost made Jamie faint.
