Would anyone be interested in doing some sort of event before end of the year stuff starts? (For Hogwarts, it's started in RL. ) The site has been rather slow lately, and I think something new to do would hopefully pick up interest.
Ideas:
[/b] Of which there are a million and one themes we could choose from. Carnival/ Auction: The 'auction' we have talked about so many times. Basically, some people get auctioned off for a 'date' at the carnival. Couples/ groups of people/ individuals can also come to said carnival. All proceeds go to a charity of some sort. Hogsmeade Trip: Not particularly exciting, but still something fun to do. This could be done in addition to a dance for dress shopping and such. *nods* Spring Break: You do whatever you want. You can stay at Hogwarts, go on a trip with friends, go home and visit Mum and Dad. The possibilities are endless. [/ul] Anyone particularly like or dislike any of those ideas? Anyone have a different idea? Voice your lovely opinions please. [/size]

I like the idea of the Carnival/auction. That sounds fun. But really, why can't we do them all? I mean, start off with the Carnival, announce the Spring Dance after words, schedule a trip to Hogsmeade, HAVE the Spring Dance as sort of a last event before break kinda deal. You know what I mean? Or does that not make any sense at all...?
Anyway, doing them all might help REALLY pique interest. But that's just an idea.

Actually, doing them all sounds like it would be very reasonable. That makes perfect sense. It would be like Hogsmeade the weekend before, Auction/ Carnival in the late morning/ afternoon, and then a dance that night. Then spring break in the morning? I think it work well.

I particularly dislike these ideas, Sam. Haha, of course I'm teasing by making use of your size one notes. I agree with Ellen totally, and that was my first thought. We should have them all, all, all! Greed is not a sin at times! What sort of charity are we talking about? The sort of 'Aww, you're single, here take a butt-head' charity?

Dance, carnival, break!
And maybe we could think of an event for everyone over break? >3> I mean, have 'home' stuff, but maybe a trip somewhere, or a bbq? XD

Well I'm glad you guys like it. Charity: Something like, research to cure a disease, save the _, etc. Anyone have any ideas? During spring break: We could do something if it wouldn't be too much. We tried a trip last year and hardly anyone posted. Maybe groups of friends could just do something? Like on an individual thing? Maybe a camping trip for some club? Any ideas? And thanks for actually responding guys, I appreciate it.

Alright. SimSam and I talked about this and we like the idea. Anyone else please, let me know. lol
The Carnival can be an "around the world" carnival. Each house gets a part of the world and they build and create the rides and games and such for that part of the world. Then everyone gets to go through it and play everything from all over. So we all see all the different wizarding things from around the world. There will be rides from different countries and different games from parts of the world. We all get a bit of culture and masses of fun! The entire grounds can be transformed to become a giant globe of things to do! Courtyard, Greenhouses, Lake area, Quidditch pitch! The works!!!

How about something like:
The Americas: Hufflepuff Asia: Ravenclaw Africa/Australia: Gryffindor Europe: Slytherin
The prefects and a selected commitee would put their part of the fair together?
Question: Would this still work with the auction and the dance afterwards? Because I'd still like to do that too, and just a normal carnival would be fun too...

hey everyone - sorry i haven't existed in a while. life exploded.
but, so, i've been reading through this, and it all seems like fun, but one thing is catching me - if we did a world carnival like myla suggested, i'm afraid that it will become too complicated. the stands would require someone to run them, and someone to think of a region-specific ride/stand/whatever.
i think it would be better - that is, things would run smoother - if we just had a regular carnival. that way, people could create their own stands as desired, instead of risking people making threads for their stand and no one using it.

Cait makes an excellent point. I really like the idea of a world carnival thing, but I think it over complicates things too much. Especially if we want to do a dance and a date auction with it.

Alright, I added a poll to decide what to do with for our spring event. Please vote!!
24 hours to vote. One vote per member!!
If the second option wins we'll put up sign ups for the Auction. If the first wins we'll set up the different parts of the world carnival!

Alright, the votes are in! We're doing the date auction, with the date being a traditional carnival and a semi-formal dance.
More information will be up soon!
